As for me.
Name: Richard Pavlicek (Jr.)
I'm 36. Have a wife and a 2 year old son. I adore him. (Fatherhood does amazing things)
I have a MS in Computer Science and now I'm a software engineer in Silicon Valley (San Jose, CA).
Won't go too much into history...I've pretty much run the gamut. Good, Bad and the Ugly.
If any of you has a software design/technical question I can probably help...and I won't mind either.
Who are you?

I'm always right. I'm also a jerk. It's not my fault you can't get over the latter to see the former.

Thought I'd update my post:Greyshore wrote:Thanks Kazak, I did miss this thread and it was interesting reading some *coughs* all of your introductions. :p So, for the sake of child protection I'll just post the initials of my name....
My name is J.F.S.S, I'm portuguese. I'm seventeen years old and though done with the obligatory school, I continued my studies for another year in an arts school. Currently looking for an apprenticeship in the Graphic Arts. Unlike some here, the neverwinter series only played a role in my mid teens, though I had tried it out once in my pre-teen years at my cousin's place. Back then I wasn't as fluent in English as I am today yet even though I had no idea what the heck the game was about I still enjoyed playing it, specially when creating a character, checking other character's reaction to some answers and creating god-like-armors with the toolset. As for my personality, I'm told I have a rather odd humor... likely since I've lived most of my life in PT and have been in Switzerland only for a half a decade. Cultures and ways differ a bit. Besides gaming, I'm a fan of literature, arts, movies, music, etc.
Let's see... green belt, chill, browns and blues, almost all kind of noodles menus, dogs, there is no such thing a cookies without milk menu, hate lack of variety in things, plain awesome, too awesome, awesomest, etc. Can't think of more.
And I found about Dasaria when the pwc was hosted at the Neverwinter Vault.

I live in Oklahoma City and am 34 years old. I am to be married sometime in the future to my girlfriend whom I live with. I have 3 step children and a beautiful baby girl born in october of 2006.
I work in the IT department of a local surveying company.
I look foreward to becoming a member of dasaria and plan to be here a while so look for me in game, i need to meet and go on adventures with you all. I need to work on my RP skills as they have not been used in some time. Nrrugg caught me offguard as I stumbled into him leaving the Inn the other night haha. They should come back to me though!

I'll bite... to alleviate the nagging guilt of having never posted in the "Hello Dasaria" forum.

G/F : Dosn't Game. Loathes when I game. Bought a 8800 GTS graphics card for me for Xmas. Yeah... I am confused too.
Drink of Choice While Gaming: Old Charter and water
Influential Video Games in Chronological Order: Zork, Wizardy, Kings Quest, Ultima IV, Doom, Doom 2, Diablo, Fallout 2, Everquest, Mechwarrior 4, Neverwinter Nights, Battlefield 1942, Everquest 2, Battlefield 2, Neverwinter Nights 2. There are plenty of other games in between but those are the ones that standout for various reasons.
Everyone lists Pong as there first video game if they are old enough but what was the first computer game that really grabbed you? Zork was mine. Wasn't by choice either.
All my friends at the time had Comodore 64s and they all had plenty of games that they shared, copied, etc. and I wanted some of that action. Somehow or another I convinced my father that this 11 year old needed a computer and that I should even have some input on which one we should get. Enter the IBM PC Jr 128. I don't remember what kinda store we purchased the computer at but I do remember the guy that sold it to us strangely enough. I hated that guy. He must have seen us coming a mile away, some father with a kid that has video game fever and his pitch was good. Comodore 64 has 64 K of memory and the PC Jr has double that with 128K of memory! Hmmm, 128 is double 64... makes sense to an 11 year old. The PC jr even has cartirdge slots like an Atari for video games! Yeah... that makes even more sense! Bought! So we get home, set the computer up and its time to game! We had bought two game cartridges with the computer and I can't really remember what they were but it was awful. The games were lame and I got to view them in all there CGA glory. To those that are lucky enough to be to young to know what CGA... its a 4 color pallete. Thats all the it can display on the screen at a time. Anyways, those two games were short lived. After that I dabbled on the computer some because it was new and interesting. I had some books for kids (really good idea looking back on it) that intergrated Basic programing in with the storyline but I digress. Anyways, one day my dad came home with a game called Zork on something called a "Floppy." He proceeded to tell me all the precautions I need to take with this floppy, which I already knew cause I had poured over the computer manual searching for a way to make the graphics better, and then handed me the game. I wasn't expecting much because of the aforementioned CGA graphics but then I loaded it. I didnt need graphics. It was a text based game and I did like to read! Or rather I was a good reader from being consistently grounded for my grades... Anyways, I loved the game. After that it was Wizardy. This added rudimentary graphics to the mix! Kings Quest came next and this added an adventure and problem solving theme! Ultima 4 was awesome because it wasnt a linear dungeon crawl like Wizardy but you could move anywhere in the world like Kings Quest. The games and computers just kept getting better after that.
Yikes... that was alot longer than I intended but the more I thought about it the more I remembered. Strange lookin back at it how getting a PC Jr skewed me to playing RPG games. It was the only style of game it could really handle. Congrats if ya made it thru the entire thing. This wasn't the most personal introduction, but it is how I ended up with you ladies and gents.
A couple more things. I seem to remember Kings Quest being EGA (a whole 16 colors!) but then Ultima 4 being CGA. Did I get them out of order? And I should add Leisure Suite Lary to the mix. That was a fun game if you were a kid!
Oh yeah one more thing! I saw a couple of you said you play/played BF2. Me and a couple others on this server log on Teamspeak and play a game of BF2 when the server goes down for a break. If anyone wants to join us, shoot me a PM and I'll get you the IP.

I assume you play on an American server? Me and some mates play that game a crap load but we're all Aussies and due to our horrible internet services down here, can only conncet to Australian servers for it to be playable. Otherwise that would be awesome.Oh yeah one more thing! I saw a couple of you said you play/played BF2. We just find a server that has decent pings and a map we want to play so its not always American. Played on Aussie servers before just fine. The only contraint we might have is the time difference. Typically I play in the evening from 6:30 Central (-6:00 GMT I believe). If you play on some odd hours it would be great to get a squad together and "pwn some newbs." I'll shoot you a PM with the TS server address.lankycheese wrote:I assume you play on an American server? I am 17, I am Canadian.
In grade 9 I dropped out of school because of frustration from not knowing what I'm going to do with my life. Also with the anger from being with idiots and retards who believe that the police is destroying Canada and that "Ya don need no education for life" mentality. I guess I even started to believe it myself and stopped caring.
In the year after I went to work, stacking boxes and emptying delivery trucks at a warehouse for 8.00/hour. I saw what happens to people who stop caring, they get stuck at these jobs and they die alone and with no purpose. I decided I wanted to do something with my life I wanted to be a part of something to help make life better for others.
I went back to school for grade 9, I finished it and I kept thinking about what I wanted to do after high-school. I'd decided to join the Army, it wasn't because I wanted to get away from it all. It was because of a trip I went on a few months before going back to school, I went to Cuba, I saw the s*** conditions (sorry, no other way to describe it) and I wanted to do something that gave people a chance for a better life. I realized how good I have it in Canada, for f***s sake! They don't even have running water or electricity! I wanted to do something.
I'm now in Grade 11, I've lost 30 lbs getting into shape, it took me 9 months of 5 day a week workouts to get to where I am. I work my hardest in school because it's my job. I signed up for the reserves and am currently waiting for the callback to go and do the physical exam.
My name is Christoph Braendli and I want to make a f***ing difference.
