alignment

Post by muletang »

Would somebody be so kind as to point me at where you find out exactly what your alignment is? I see the bit telling me i am 'so and so' but wheres the points? I keep a track of the points gained from quests but how do you know if you are on the verge of shifting alignment?

thanky :)

They removed it from the game, apparently. The numbers must be somewhere, but it's not visible to the player.

Damned hard to stay true neutral. Still managing, though!

Moreover, I advise that Carthage must be destroyed.

I also read that in NWN2 when you do switch alignment thru actions, you are placed at the midpoint of the new alignment to keep you from being able to manipulate your alignment too easily.

Would it be possible to mod the UI to show this? I'm not a modder (yet) so I have no clue.

so, just to labour the point...

when I start off brand new and am, for example, lawful good (never!). and I do some quests and make up 3 lawful and 3 good points, am I 3 points further into my alignment, or have I not moved?
Then say I get a point in chaotic. I have now gained:
+3 good
+3 lawful
+1 Chaotic

So I should be:

+2 lawful and +3 good left over?

Or.. am I just +1 chaotic and have to get a +1 lawful to get back to where I started?

Hope this makes sense.

I'd post a way to find out your alignment, but I'm not sure whether we're supposed to know, so I won't. Sorry. :?

My understanding is that as you gain/lose alignment points you slide back and forth within the alignment you currently reflect. As soon as your alignmnent crosses the line for the next alignmnet, you are placed at the halfway point of that new alignment. It is to keep someone from immediatley doing something they know will give them that 1 point back and going back to their old alignment too easily.

In the middle. Refer to nwn1.

So... is it forbidden to know it or not? Like Eve, I do know of a way to find it out as well. :p

Why would it be forbidden to know your own alignment?

"I'm not allowed to remember if I'm Chaotic Good or not!"

If you want to know your alignment, roleplay it :).

For all i care, my alignment could say Lawful good - and I could be the meanest unlawful, evil guy ever.

They're numbers, in a mechanical world. Of course - you may have to change this if its a requirement for a class your playing :).

Your allignment is a guideline and a thing for the DM's to see whether or not you're playing along the lines of your charactersheet. It all depends on the DM's whether or not you have to use that allignment or not. If they want to hand out XP-rewards for good roleplay, then you might wish to stick to the allignment and if you want them to swat you with the allignmentstick because you're not sticking to it; then play according to it too.

If you don't give a rats *** and have your allignment in your head, well that's okay I suppose but you're not gonna be able to cooperate with the DM's then.
They're numbers, in a mechanical world.
3.5th ED D&D = about numbers. It all boils down to the word of the DM's on how they treat allignment.

Thats.. a point Kell however given as how the newbie quests tend to swing your alignment about wildly depending on wether you act like a jerk or are simply polite, for the most part. it becomes a bit of a mute point.
