NWN1 has ridable horses. But you won't go back to NWN1. But you would give anything for a horse. Illogical. Illogical. All units relate, all units. Norman, coordinate.A horse! A horse! Nelina's kingdom for a (ridable) horse!
In all seriousness, I really hope we don't even consider going back to NwN1.
Patch 1.10 has been released.

Well, I have been on an extended vacation from NWN2. I miss the player base, but truthfully, the game had gotten to such a point of frustration trying to play that I just figured I wanted to have actual fun with my free time.
I REFUSE to give Obsidian any more of my hard earned cash unless things get fixed to the point that the game can actually be played and Dasaria can begin to grow and live as it was intended.
Expansion...bah.

I can't say I blame Wyv or any other cynical staff in the slightest for their sentiments, but seeing this really deflates my excitement for Das. If the builders and staff are frustrated with the tool... well, content just inherently can't live up to potential. Dammit Bioware.Wyvern wrote: I think. Everyone gets frustrated now and again. We're playing a game together. Get in there and have fun and don't sweat the small stuff.lockethrowsknives wrote:I can't say I blame Wyv or any other cynical staff in the slightest for their sentiments, but seeing this really deflates my excitement for Das. I installed 1.10 since it's needed for another PWC I beta. I have to say, this patch is amazing in terms of client performance. With the camera stuff out of the way, I can turn everything on and up to high and get better performance than I got with everything in the off / medium range I had set with 1.06.
I hope you get the toolset working with 1.11.

Women ... and ale... what else does a man need?
Well, maybe women who brew ale... or just more ale.
I need a drink.

Can you give examples of nice changes? Call me a pessimist (okay, I am), but I'm rather frustrated with Obsidian at this point.

The patch hasn't been any improvement in my performance, and I'm playing the official campaign at the moment. However it is my understanding that a lot of the improvment will not be enabled until:
1. The Mask of the Betrayer expansion is installed or:
2. a patch is made available for those that do not purchase the expansion.
While I'm happy that Obsidian are committed to boosting multiplayer functionality and performance, I am disappointed that NWN 2 lacks the risk-taking of NWN1. For me, NWN2 has not provided anything new except for improved graphics. The way technology is progressing, it is only a matter of time that user-created mini-MMO's will be readily available, and NWN2 had a huge opportunity to make an early leap into this market. Just imagine - create and populate an entire world with the minimum of scripting. Or even better, Host that world for free as part of the proposed Gleemax Gaming social networking site (access just requires a copy of the game). Unfortunately WotC/Hasbro/Obsidian/Atari lacked the imagination to expand the game beyond the traditional single player game market (which is what the majority of players buy NWN2 for).
So, a Dasaria Conan MMO guild anyone?

There are some changes that I did like, they cleaned up the interface on the equip menu and added an auto sort option (I do not know if it will automatically stack stackable items). I don't know if I like the new camera options, but that may be because I'm simply used to NWN camera system. I don't see Dasarian using the "strategic" camera option much for online play as we only really control one character, DMs might find it useful though.
Actually, I did notice that even with all my graphics turned down things look cleaner, textures not quite so grainy and such, but still, not much in reality over how I normally ended up playing.
Finally, I was annoyed that this patch zapped all my custom configuration. Being left-handed I tend to have to customize my keyboard layout extensively and having to reset all that was a bit of a pain, and I'm still not sure I got everything.
