The availability of the insta-heal-type potions for sale by merchants is an old subject, about which there was a very rigorous public debate followed by a final determination of the staff.

That said, that decision always pertained to items for sale by common merchants. Standard healing potions and wands can still be crafted by characters that have made the proper feat investments. They can be very expensive to craft and in the case of wands, also require skillpoint investments in UMD by the user -- But they can be made, can be purchased from characters who have these skills. That works for me and I've no intention of messing with that.

I can accept that you don't want npc merchents to sell the healing potions but there are a few points I want to make due to the feel of some of the post made after I made the request.

!. there really doesn't seem to be that many cleric on much so healing potions can be a must. There are a lot of times where one is FORCED to solo due to lack of people on or in your level range.
2. We play in a high fantasy world healing potions are just as "real" as say a troll.
3. It really doesn't take any time at all to put your shiled forward and reach down into a spot you have set up to pull something out. I fight the weapon style our chars. do in real life being in the s.c.a I have had to put my heater shield forward (much smaller then a tower shield) to fix a piece of armor that was digging into my side and I won that crown tournie.
4. when I can buy a heal light potion 2 and have it do more healing then a cure crit 1 maybe something should be looked at.

If you really need to have insta-heals, you should seek out one of the many wands crafters in Cear and pick yourself up a wand of Cure Crit. They are expensive, but perhaps you will feel they are worth the cost.

But there is no chance that the insta-heal pots will make a re-appearance. They unbalance the game too much, and the content is already too easy as it is.

I also played before the healing potion tweak. And it is much better now!
Like Churchill would have said if he played Dasaria today:

“It has been said that the present potion system is the worst form of potion system except all the others that have been tried.”

I personally don't mind the instant healing potions, mostly because nine
times out of ten, I do end up soloing an area.. even if its just for 6 exp a
pop in elementals at level 7. (This is what you have to do when
everything else kills you..) I would like to see some druids you could pay,
or clerics you could pay to heal you. It would eliminate costs out of the
game, plus it would allow those of us that do solo to perhaps get some
sort of healing without trying to beg something from a PC.

The lack of healing does make me want to play my cleric more though.

That's a pretty good idea, maybe I'll drop something like that in.

Not understanding the contraversy I reread my first post on the subject. I think I may have phrased what I ment poorly. The potions I was talking about were the same ones we find in low level areas. Cure light wounds. Cure moderet wounds and maybe cure critical wounds. I was not asking for the full heal potions just the standered versions with no regen to be added if that was a possibility. If the answer is still no we don't want them on npc vendors that's fine I'll just have to set time aside when no one needs the lower lvl areas to go get a stock pile of them for use.

I believe those are the potions they were talking about, so get stockin'!

Once upon a time there was a kind soul named Mae. She sold all kinds of potions, including the ones you are talking about. In their wisdom however, the lords of the realm saw that these instantly healing potions were something that was not good for their beloved realm. The wise lords then removed the potions from Mae's stock, and made completely new ones to substitute this terrible loss. It appeared that the lords of the realm were satisfied with the results, and things have been like they are now ever since.

Blackthorn,

The Cure Crit potions were removed because they were abused horribly. Basically, every bit of content was a cakewalk for any character because they would just stockpile Cure Crit potions and chug them as needed. That was never the intent of the world designers, so they made a smart change and switched to regen potions instead. This requires a bit more thought to use effectively.

But the Cure Crit is still available as a pricey wand, if you really feel its necessary (i.e., if you like to solo it may be handy to have one, just in case). In a group it will not be necessary as you can just back away from combat and let your comrades deal while you pop a regen and/or a heal kit.

Good luck with your adventuring.

But to be fair, its not something we can blame Dasaria designers for. Only NWN2 designers for.

I personally think it takes a cleric to make an archer be an effective archer.

Rangers are OK if they were smart enough to invest in strength up to the +5 bonus on composite bows. Rapidshot is worthwhile, but Manyshot is worthless.

Clerics are more uber at anything than any other class. They are better fighters than fighters, better mages than mages, better archers than rangers or AAs, with the bonuses and immunities of a weaponmaster and an RDD combined, while being all of the above simultaneously. A little persistent Divine Favor maybe? Litterally the only thing they don't have is disable w/o able learner or natural reflex saves and that doesn't matter because they can walk over any trap with total immunity anyway. Maybe a druid can be a better druid, but -only- if they're pure.

Don't even get me started on the ridiculous domains with their free feats. Literally, the Cleric can emulate any class you care to and 100 times better than the real thing, with a 50AC and 30+AB on top of it in a zero-magic world while wearing heavy armor with no spell failure. For a non-pure character, there is no reason NOT to dip one level of cleric unless your primary class gets all its good feats a level 20, it's a total joke.

Of course you need to buff for five minutes.

I don't support gimping but Cleric is -the- most broken thing in the game and its by intentional design.

Everybody hates clerics, until they're in a party with one :P

Weaponmasters with decent equipment are nearly as bad, though. I know this because I've got one.

But fear not, my next character is going to be a rogue.....

I'd agree that clerics are uber, but disagree that rogues are gimpy. My majority-rogue multiclass is pretty hardy.

So, to get this back on track... What could the DMs and builders do to address these perceived imbalances?
