Suggestion to Help parties and looting...
Yeah noticed one of those rogue specific content.
Found a locked door and looked for a key for it so long and no success. Today happened to have a rogue with me and he opened it with no problem.

Well... you almost got me chiken... I do it this way
1) Say that I've spotted the trap.
2) Approach the trap.
3) Tell party members to back away.
4) Demand that Tashalia provides protection. If given, difuse trap, if not given, don't.
5) Tell party it's "safe" to cross

Drop the object?thedork wrote:not too hard - make a chest, set the item (would have to have a unique tag, even if it was an ordinary dagger, which is beyond simple) to infinite, then do a script to check if the PC already has one equipped or in repository, if it does, the script will not let him loot it. pretty simple... alternatively you can have a script on the chest (again, too easy to do), that will automatically put the item into the PC's inventory if he does not already have it.
eg.
//check IF (function) if PC has the item tagged 001_unique
//if PC (player character) has the item tagged 001_unique, say "You can not take more than one of these items." --hovers text over PC's head.
//else (function) gives them the item tagged 001_unique and 1000 experience points
//on open script
#include "nw_i0_tool"
void main()
{
object oPC = GetLastOpenedBy();
if (!GetIsPC(oPC)) return;
if (GetItemPossessedBy(oPC, "001_unique")!= OBJECT_INVALID)
{
FloatingTextStringOnCreature("You can not take more than one of these items.", oPC);
}
else
{
RewardPartyXP(1000, oPC, FALSE);
CreateItemOnObject("001_unique", oPC);
}
//--sorry my scripting is a tad messy, but it compiles properly.
Edit: Didn't see the other post addressing this. So you want to make all loot plot items? Meh. This is just a solution begging for a problem. I honestly think that the downtime is making certain people think way too hard about solutions for things that really aren't that big a deal to begin with.
Ofcourse not, just the "specific" unique items you get, that are specific to the quest you are on. Since quest items shouldn't be tradeable anyway - You want em? do the quest
Although you should note that wasn't really a suggestion, it's merely an idea to reflect the possibility of changing the looting, and the simplicity of it.

My suggestion would fix this problem:
viewtopic.php?t=684
And keep in mind you don't need to use "all" of my suggestion.
The premise is, once a party gains a quest, it is locked out by any other individual or party. When they turn it in, another party can get it. This avoids loot and monsters contention. Not to mention the big RP killer when a random person is sitting in the boss room instead of the boss himself...
It maintains the quest integrity. When a new party gains the quest, all chests/monsters reset!

We still disagree as to the severity of this type of problem. I just never saw this as much of an issue. This also eliminates the possibility of random encounters with other PCs in caves. I have been involved in so many awesome RP sessions that evolved out of chance encounters and your suggestion would lock that out. I must vehemently protest the use of such a system.

Yea the crypt is an excellent example of fun PC interaction based on the quest..
Example: Evil cleric is in the process of starting the ritual at the end. Good party walks in just as he finishes.... What happens next?
Example: Player has just worked his way to the boss of a dungeon and is getting ready to fight him... Another character Invis/stealths past the player and takes the reward.... What happens next?
