Nothing to add; just thought this was incredibly well written.Raeflyn wrote:The Laird of Aucklorn Mill
Amidst a storm, cold and gray,
Beneath a sky that ‘guised the day,
Upon crested hill yon lilies sway,
Stood boldly be, Sir Jack McKay,
_____The laird of Aucklorn Mill;
In the little light, streaming there,
Ten warriors brave both good and fair,
Stood behind him without err,
Their duty clear and bound to share,
_____To the laird of Aucklorn Mill;
On knotted plains the host did wait,
A mass of steel, sword and plate,
And though they stood, their hearts irate,
Resigned they be to destined fate,
_____With the laird of Aucklorn Mill;
Atop the tuft’d ridge they form’d,
Down the tousled grass they storm’d!
Thro’ the muddy flats they swarm’d,
Dashed against the host forlorn’d,
_____With the laird of Aucklorn Mill;
The blood of friend and blood of foe,
Mingled in the scene below,
One would watch and wonder so,
Where do these souls of good men go?
_____With the laird of Aucklorn Mill;
And with the dawning of the day,
The sun did meet a bloodied fray,
Broken in the field they lay,
Ten brave men and Sir Jack McKay,
_____The laird of Aucklorn Mill;
In good kept hearts of Dasarian men,
‘Ere lie in remembrance the bloody ten,
When the moon is full and the sun has been,
Still they ride upon the glen,
_____With the laird of Aucklorn Mill.

Lost at Sea
O Skies that here so dimly float:
For what still loom you o'er this boat?
I have dreamt of land to-day,
So please, Skies, do not me delay.
But ever swiftly cracks a cackle
From this mistress bound in shackle -
Bound forever more above
To cry with all those bound in love.
Still awake, she sheds a tear -
Far too many, far too near.
O Mistress of the Skies Up There!
Is there someone anywhere?
No response but still she weeps,
And closer, closer, her nightmare creeps.
To-night I shan't decide my fate,
For O the Skies, they do not wait.
Something strikes and so do I -
Into the bitter tears of sky.
Whichever lie might save my skin
I name my closest kin.
But alas, I drown to-day,
My vision ever to delay:
And so it's here I dimly float,
Beneath my looming, shattered boat.

The Sojourner
I once awoke in foreign seas,
Upon a ship of gloom
The wind would all my fingers freeze
And all my forecasts doom
I once awoke on foreign waves
To free myself from land
And all its under-soil graves
To dig a grave in sand.
I once had spoke of foreign me's
And what more did I find
Than lingering serenities
Somewhere down the line?
I once had praised a newer nation
We all can understand
And for my words, a generation
Has stuck its head in sand.
I once before have dreamed of lands
In some foreign time
Whose perfect ships were made with hands
Descent from hands of mine.
I once was roused by foreign air
And what more did I see
Than wanderers that could only stare
With crushèd hope, at me?

Excellent! The rhyme scheme proves quite useful for keeping the rhythm of the poem, and even if the reader doesn't know the specific topic of the poem it conveys the meaning quite beautifully. Excellent piece Eve, keep up the nice work.

Cold Love
Or: Ere Lancon
O what a futile effort shall this be,
To tell in full the subject of my love!
For she is neither angel, nor a dove;
Instead, a river coldly flowing free,
Engulfing all that may dare not to flee,
And taking earth to be her reaching glove
To lands unknown and mountains far above
And finally to spill into the sea,
Ambition then to meet its timeless goals--
So satisfied, her spirit then shall rest
Upon the waves, among the kindred souls
In whom she has a season to invest
Until her waters circle 'round the poles,
And, as a stream, repeat the human quest.

I humbly request the opportunity to dedicate the last one to Charms.
Some people are like slinkys. Not good for much but they always make you smile when you push them down the stairs.

I thought I'd add one, as the forums are down and I have nothing else to do at the moment
Cleansing
Within an abode so vile,
We lay the dead in rows and piles,
Their bodies slain
Their souls doomed,
We entered with a crash and a boom.
The forces were clashing,
The maces were bashing,
The swords were slashing,
The hammers smashing.
Within an abode so vile,
We lay the dead in rows and piles,
Shattered relics,
Slew those of Pyre,
Their domain we did set on fire.
Prisoners moaned,
Slaves owned,
Heretics deponed,
Death postponed.
Within an abode so vile,
We lay the dead in rows and piles,
Axe fell,
Priest did bless,
Cleansing was a success.

Awakening -An Iaosian Prayer
Oh upon the grass that's green
And under the golden sun
Upon the hills that sheen
With mourning dew
Iaosia's children awaken
And break their fast
The mole mound and rabbit den
And the doe and buck run
From mourning-tide
To evening's end
When her children run and play
And when they head to bed
Let all her children
Joyous and free
Live with their gifts
Of fleet and strength and zen
O Iaosia, of the earth
Sister of Culnul and Child of Ammu
As we guard your domain
Please bless us in return
So it goes.
