Greetings my friend.
I suppose it is appropriate to post something in here by way of greetings before gallivanting off to comment elsewhere.
Greetings!
As a quick personal introduction, I am a 28 year old Cartographer who has been playing DnD in one form or another since I was about eight or so. My interest include too many things to list beyond what you might expect from your general lifelong DnD player, though I am by hobby a boxer, an 'apprentice' reproduction armor smith and 'longsword' fencing enthusiast. I am a native Texan, and I currently live just north of Houston in a little town called (and I kid you not) Cut-N-Shoot.
My primary character on the server is Turom, a Battle Priest (Cleric for clarification, since I am a Warpriest via class levels) of Tharon. I have had the pleasure of meeting quite a few of you at this point and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time so far within the Dasarian environs. While I am not entirely new to the server itself, I still have much to learn about how everything functions within Dasaria both on a game play and a role play level. I have been reading what I can to learn about it, and I greatly appreciate (even if I have not said it before now) everyone so far who has contributed to that knowledge as well as all of you folks with whom I have spent time venturing though the countryside. It has been a blast so far, and Tharon willing, there will be many more adventures and plenty of comical hijinks yet to come.
Since this is an intro post from someone who has played for awhile before now, let me say that so far I am very impressed with the scope of the world I have explored. The rich original lore and vast content filled setting provides an odd sense of functional fantasy realism to the world and has made getting to know Dasaria a real treat. Though the ability to make any major progress alone seems somewhat daunting at times in this setting (which is in many ways understandable for a story driven world in particular), the multiple player aspects and possibilities of the setting leaves very little to be desired.
Another item which has impressed me so far is how the DM's on this server seem to interact with the players on a much more consistent basis than I had assumed they would. That they are there, and as active as they are, speaks volumes to the quality of the server. This has provided a rather unique ability to carry out some very interesting and outside the box Role Play even in just the short amount of time I have been around. It is very pleasant that even in a world where the expected mindset would usually be; "Make your own fun with RP alone", that there is still a focus towards helping the basics of the game count for more than just a secondary function to the RP. More though, that it prevents (or has for me) the scripted material from getting stale after you have encountered it a few times over a number of days in making your way along in your progression.
One final note, and most importantly from a personal standpoint, I am very pleased to have found a place where there is a sense of the "proper" RP wise, while still not taking things far too seriously. The world itself and those within it seem to have no problem turning on the humor at the appropriate time. The quick laughs between the otherwise seriousness of the setting is absolutely one of the key things that has kept me entertained throughout my playing so far, both via NPC's, my fellow players, and in interactions with the DM's. Let me just say, the spoon-vampire quest was absolutely golden. Well played Dasaria.. well played indeed.
(TL;DR -) Though I am new to the server it has been exciting so far, and I hope to maintain as I have and end up exploring the rest of the world with you crazy kids.
See you folks in game!

Atrocity has no excuses, no mitigating argument. Atrocity never balances or rectifies the past. Atrocity merely arms the future for more atrocity. Whoever commits atrocity also commits those future atrocities thus bred.
