Hi - I'm New.

Hi everyone!

I am The Nanny, and I have never played on a persistent world. I've been playing SP nwn1 and 2 for years, been very curious about PWs, but never had the time (or courage) to try it out. I'm a little intimidated by the whole process, and getting started. I've only ever played MP nwn with my wife here at home, and know little about PvP.

I read up on different PWs, but Dasaria caught my eye because it seems centered on having fun and role-play. I have read the server rules, the forums rules, etiquette guides, but I would appreciate it if someone could direct me to a good place to start here. Are there any written guides for playing on a PW? Is there any kind of "training facility"? I really really don't want to jump in anywhere with veterans then have my noobishness slow things down or frustrate people.

I like to play nwn1 or 2. I have all the game expansions. I like to play wizards or monks.

Any advice anyone has on what I need to do to kickstart here would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

Hi, welcome to Dasaria. There's no training camp to speak of. But there are NPCs who will send you on some simple quests to get you acquainted with the world.

As you said, we're about having fun and good quality role-play. So don't worry about noobishness. If you want to chat a group of us always hang out on the IRC chat for Dasaria (#dasaria on Quakenet). Otherwise just jump in-game and have fun.

Hey there! Yeah the whole PW thing can be intimidating at first, I recommend just coming on and exploring, finding your own way.

Sometimes people seem to be rushing about doing one thing or another, but engage them in roleplay and just generally chat 'em up and all your RPers will come out of the woodwork.

Primetime hours and Fri/Sat/Sun are always best to get groups and to meet some of the recurring characters.

we are just starting a dasaria 101 thread where we are tring to collect informatin to make it easier for people to get started. (viewtopic.php?f=34&t=9376) It is very rudementery at the moment but there is some info. If there are things that you would like know, you are welcome /encouraged post it there and then we can add the answer to the knowledge base.

First of all, you picked the right PW and you're already off to a great start by posting here. There are many other couples on Dasaria, I myself being half of one. When BlueNaga and I started, we were lured in by the excellent forum you are now browsing, but we played for quite some time before we registered. This is is a pretty close community so you will likely find lots of friendly people willing to help you out. We're not an MMO and you likely won't get a 12-year-old Korean kid cursing you out in leetspeak for being a noob, so don't be afraid to jump in.

If you play a wizard or monk, be careful, those wolves can be a pain. When you leave the Misty, turn left, explore the city, and don't leave the gates. Many a fresh new adventurer has made a right turn and been eaten. There is a lot to do in the city alone, so travel with friends, explore everything, talk to everyone, and have fun. I believe you can still easily get to level four without repeating quests, leaving the city, or fighting anything.

As previously stated, join us on the IRC if you want to chat about character builds or anything else for that matter.

been having fun here! Am finding the first few levels pretty difficult to survive, but that cool - I always seem to enjoy characters most in the first 5 levels when they are at serious risk! My brother with be joining up soon...now I'll try to pull my wife off Sims3 to join us.

People have been helpful and patient in the game...great community!
