Tower Shields have a base AC of +4, compared to a heavy shield, which is +2. The disadvantage is a Tower Shield limit a character's dodge bonus to +2, while there is no limit for a heavy shield. Tower Shields also bloody heavy!ErictheRed wrote:I just sold one of these a week or so ago...anyway why are Tower Shields so popular? Don't they give you -2 to hit or something? I'd rather just use a Heavy Shield and not take the to-hit penalty.
That's in PNP. There is no max dodge bonus for tower shields in NWN2; instead, it gives a -2 penalty to your attack rolls.SnorriHT wrote:Tower Shields have a base AC of +4, compared to a heavy shield, which is +2. Well that's the last time I'll trust the NWN2 Manual *rips off the cover with the CD key to keep, throws the rest of it into the bin* It doesn't mention anything about -2 to attack rolls, it just says Max dex bonus +2papaya taco wrote: ...

To answer your question, Eric: Some people like having a little better defense than offense, or have such high ABs that the -2 isn't really anything at all.
