There's a difference between "no magic being cast/used," as was asked, and wands pumping out stoneskin, cure critical wounds, bull's strength, etc. I'm just trying to give a complete answer.

ToC, something to note: merely because something works in the single player offline version of the game doesn't mean that it will work on the multiplayer side. To use an example from NWN1, certain spells like Magic Circle Against Evil or Silence, which would work perfectly when running on a computer, would sometimes not work on online servers (I know they didn't always work properly on Das1), the effect would appear, but it wouldn't move around with the caster as intended. Other times they could have unintended consequences, another NWN1 example: Timestop. Worked exactly as intended single player, but when cast on a server would stop all the actions everywhere on a server even across multiple zones, so it was often re-scripted to fix that issue. Just because it was used by the developers in a closed environment doesn't mean that it will work perfectly on such an open ended system as online play, where many factors can affect it. What happens if the server crashes in the middle of the script running? What happens if the server crashes in the middle of the restore script running? What happens if there's a lag spike and someone disconnects from the server in the middle of one of the scripts running? These are a lot of variables to account for and are nearly untestable, nor are the results whole predictable.

And that's the thing, something like that script would have to work perfectly every time it's fired off. Every time. If it fails and goes weird even once, someone is loosing a huge number of magic items, possibly months or years of earned equipment, and is going to be very, very unhappy.

Well, on the one hand, it does not follow that because you know some exceptions or bugs, this script is one of them. Given more than one person wrote and posted a version for a PW, it seems fair to assume it won't wreck a server.

On the other hand, if you're concerned with loss, you can put a disclaimer before the quest, and make the first quest version for level 1-4s. Or just don't go on the quest, if it were even implemented at all.

Thank you, I got what I was looking for.

to be honest, walking into a room and having my screen glow pink due to on mass dispell action is getting really old as is, I don't want to be nurfed any more. Interesting idea though.
