Quit dual wielding.
Also you want a high-crit weapon with WM; Falchion, Scythe, Scimi, Kukrl, etc.
Demons are silver-DR as well, you'll want a player-crafted weapon

*still tries to find a way to achieve triumph using dual wield and two weapon fighting*
most undeads and some nasty creatures are immune to crit.
hunting season is good when partied with 2-3 party members. unless with wands. and few advantages.

Can't change what her mastery is at this point without rerolling her - and it took her this long to get this far... if I had to reroll Edana, I'd probably just end up quitting playing entirely. She uses a longsword, and hasn't dual wielded for a while now. She uses just one sword.

I'm afraid I seem to be in the same predicament as Vahene. My Ranger is having a good bit of difficulty in hunting virtually anything. I can get a round or two off of arrows, but then have to run away because everything hurts too much.
At the moment, I'm wandering around again and seeing what I can find, but I've (yet) to have much luck.

Fight with a party
I find parties are great for keeping evil monsters off the squishy archers.

A ranged attacker's like a quarterback, the bad guys are always going to try to sack him before he throws the ball. The trick is to have a line of big dudes to crush 'em when they rush in.
If you're soloing, an archer still has to go sword & shield once enemies are in melee range; with all that DEX you'll probably want to use a finessible weapon.

I also find groups the best way to grind mobs, but I'm a rather squishy bard, soooooo... yeah.

Ranged attacks are true in that regard. Its much better to have a defesive line available, and that does indeed usually require a group. Sadly though, oftimes a group is not available be it due to no-one being online (I sometimes have a strange schedule) or are simply not the correct level. Thus, a group isn't always something that can be relied upon.

Yes... this is why most people I used to group with I can no longer group with. They outleveled me by a lot and so now I can find only pick-up groups. Sadness.

Mind you, you don't have to be the proper level to go with every group. If you're friends are enjoying the company of a DM, there is no reason that I know of that you can't join them (Likely die a few extra times than normal) and enjoy some RP/DM exp.
You should be the proper level to join quests with your friends though.

I would like to suggest an alternative method of success with your archer, HIPS stealther, saved me more times than you will know. But i do also have a longsword and shield (just incase i get disarmed or run out of arrows) but fortunately, neither of these happen very often. solo'ing is very hard for ranged characters anyway:) they are just a great thing to have for support in a group.
Which i guess is also why a bear is great to have for an archer ranger, he can keep them at bay a short while, while you make a pin cushion out of them.

My ranger will eventually have HiPS, but not as of yet.
As for the bear, he does hold his own, but he does not have the armor class to survive. In the case of most players I've seen numbers start at 35. Neither I nor the bear can top 26-28.

You're lucky
My archer doesn't have HIPS or a friendly bear, and although he has level 4 sorcerer spells his only defensive spell is stoneskin.
He just manages to put about two dozen arrows (Exaggeration) in them before they get to him, and haste helps him flee.
But they tend to be more fun with groups.

Yes, solo archers totally need HiPS. The next couple of levels, I'll actually be HiPsing my Bard for survivability, since I can't ever get a party for more than three days before I'm outleveled for Non-DM hunting. DM events though are totally different.
