Hello ...

About Traps.

Does it follow the OC kind of trap crafting ?

A while ago, there was no Trap Mold,
but four fingers started selling it ... fun times.
So i tried it out, having invested in Alchemy and Craft Traps myself.

Dagger + Trap mold , is not working. (to create spike traps, maybe somethings up with the daggers?)
Alchemist Fire + Trap mold, works (to make fire traps)

hopefully traps get a little boost =]
most of them just recover the traps they find ... i do that too.
but ...
you just feel better if you can make your own devices.

being able to craft a weapon that is better than anything that can be normally found doesn't sound too right...it's not like you can craft artifacts every day :p
(stupid adamantine bastard sword needing 23 ranks to craft -.- and stupid very rare ingots QQ)
In the spirit of the suspension of disbelief and role playing; Some one had to make the stuff you find in dragon hoards. This may or may not include Artifacts (which should be far more powerful than anything I could craft).

Did you mean "Craft Magic Arms And Armor" feat? Just to be clear...since "Craft Armor" and "Craft Weapon" are just mundane skills.
Could I get clarification on this? magic workbenches do exist..But (now bear in mind I'm NOT asking for recipes) will they work now/sometime with the craft Magic Arms and Armor Feat ?

If not and all weapons will be made under the mundane skills..Can I ask why? (it seems a strange design decision)

Any chance of having plain old ordinary iron available to buy, or at least a common find. It won't make anything you can't allready buy from the shops in town. It will give crafters something to do early in their careers. Even if it's only to play. Oh and wooden planks too - hides of course are readily available.

And [I've no idea how tricky this would be to implement] how about moulds that produce unique looking items. So your home made effort is visibly different from the shopbought stuff.

This is already working when you use diferent materials to create the items

I can second that. Crafting is nice, but I've yet to use it as I can't find any materials. Some iron would be appreciated.

Can anyone confirm the availability of recipes(any kind of them)?
I've gone through the high-level dungeons several times now and haven't found anything...
Of course that could be just me being unlucky...but it would also mean this things have a drop rate FAR worse than adamantine bars.

In D&D crafting costs not only Gold, but usually a certain ammount of XP.

Example:

a +10 weapon would cost 2.000.000 gold, and 21.000 xp and take some 2.000 days or so to craft *have fun :)*.

So when you can craft an Item as powerfull as an Artefact, you will most probably lose the xp for some levels.
(and when reaching this lvl, where you can just say "hey i think i will make myself an artefact", i doubt there will be many emperors who wouldnt run screaming for their mom, when they see your party coming through the gates)

This however is not implemented in NWN2. But the Recipes in the OC are also not nearly as powerful. The Maximum Enchantment was usually below an Epic Item. (i think the +8 Ability-Items were the only exception)

Example:

a +5 weapon would cost 50.000 gold, and 2.000 xp and take 50 days to craft.

--------------------------------

Those Items are required to make a melee character effective in higher lvls, or his chances of ever effectively penetrating a 30-60 damage reduction are dim->non existant.

One should also see, that for example the mord. sword spell, gives a caster an effective +3 sword with an attack of
3+high base attack(casterlvl) +"str-mod" where str-mod is the casting ability, which should be just as high as any melee attack without feats(so about 2 points lower).

------------------------------

sry for my bad english guys, its not my native language.

Low-medium magic world. I wouldn't count on +5 weapons anytime soon.

The mechanics of non-pausable (and laggy) NWN makes melee comparatively stronger than casters anyhow. So does the inability to use spells innovatively, as in PnP "I conjure a boulder above the bridge over which the goblins are advancing".

EDIT: PM'd you Storm, so we can take the discussion there :)

This is just insanely wrong on so many levels, but I won't take that disussion here.

Anyway, I'd like to see it capped at +3 with +4 and +5 (extremely rare) given at dm events or things like it. +3 with nice skill bonuses, resistance or ability bonuses should be the best thing craftable unless you want some very rare recipes that could make a +4.

It's 3.30 am.. what was this discussion about again? *Yawns*
Moreover, I advise that Carthage must be destroyed.

No, instead you'd use a Bigby's spell to bull rush them and then freely hammer them with spells.

I have yet to find anything is game on Dasaria that has anything to do with crafting instructions, recipes or anything like that.

So far crafting is pretty much limited to the elitist guilds and such and is relatively useless because none of the standard recipes work and no one will share information.

I suggest taking this information and putting it in books that are available as found treasure or perhaps a side quest to find a library or just scattered through out the game. That way it might actually be enjoyable to consider crafting.
