This is a little unfair, Bracer. What we're discussing here is not a quickfix, not a magical switch that can be flipped.

As Artorius said, overhauling the trade system is not something the Staff takes lightly. Not only does it mean a considerable amount of work (when other projects are on the go, many of which take up a majority of the Staff's time), but it also is something that can change the working economy of the server. Granted, there have been good arguments as to the state of the economy, and how much that will change, but the fact remains: sweeping changes like these often have more repercussions than we realize initially.

Discussion is important to prevent mistakes. I assure you, Bracer, that I have personally witnessed staff decisions made in haste that have utterly destroyed aspects of a game, on and off Dasaria. That, and the amount of effort it would take to reverse any damage, is reason enough to be cautious.

If you are unwilling to stick around to offer input as the process continues, then don't expect the ideas you have to be implemented. If you are unwilling to even play on Dasaria because we won't act immediately, your argument for crafting reform will suffer. In fact, the merit and value of your arguments understandably suffers.

Imagine a politician who resigns because the House / Congress wants to challenge his ideas before ratifying. He's not going to make a lot of progress for his constituents, is he?

This is not something that happens overnight, and it's a bit ignorant to assume that it should be.

I will not comment any further on crafting, as I have never been a very good tradesman, but I felt I should say something on the merit of open, free discourse and valued discussion on these matters. Where the integrity of the economy and the server is concerned, time must be spent to evaluate our options, and what is wholly good for the server; from the perspective of community, economy, and from the experience of the Staff, of which some have assisted in administrating Dasaria for nigh on 6 years.

I dunno, I don't think Bracer is leaving...he's just not going to discuss it anymore because he is obviously wrong and no one wants to listen to him. :D

I dunno, don't give the recipes to us, but give us a freakin clue or something to look for that involves wacking some mobs or stealing it from someone (which I've considered before just to do it)

I took it as him quitting the discussion as well.

I also dont think he means immediate changes. More along the lines of just having the changes to begin with.
Personally, I prefer wardaw's line of thinking. I dont agree with anything that he has specifically said, but something along the lines of a hint, or honestly, even a recipe that follows logic. Sure, its perfectly logical.....after youve discovered it.

Thats like saying its perfectly logical that an atomic bomb wont light the atmosphere on fire when it detonates, yet our most intelligent scientists considered it a perfectly reasonable possibility.

Umm. I may have a solution.

One of the biggest problems I find (Elida was/is a member of the order of the diamond) was finding the actual formulas for the items. Not the exact ingrediants mind you but the formula them selves. Once you found the formula for a certain item it was by no means finished. It took ALOT of time to try out all the possible combinations.

Perhaps there could be a long quest chain (part of which would involve shelling out some hard earned crowns) in which you would would get a scroll or something that had the actual Formula on it (I cant really give an example without ruining the fun for some^^)

I know there are many different formulas for things such as say +1 one to weapons and then there is another formula for say 1d6 fire damage to weapon.

You may want to make it part of the server rules where your not allowed to give out the formula to ANYONE once its aquired just to make it so not everyone is running around with +3 Adamantite greatswords.

I know this would definatly get me back into crafting and try to figure out the formulas I dont know yet.
because as of now crafting is not FUN. And thats what this game is all about anyway eh? Im by no way asking for a free hand out its just that this may be a solution instead of totally redoing the crafting system.

alright , alright, taking feats should not invoke results then....i guess it comes down to difference of oppinion. Ilike to pley in Das, and i love the rp and *non grind* format. i dont like the fact that if u have more time on you hands, then the greater the chances of making your own items. i understand im dicussing... (this makes me somewhat ill by tha way) again i like playing in Das....so be it.......Bwahaha!

Kind of late to the discussion here... but I too am in the OD, and do know all the recipes (sans wonderous items). And the process that the OD had to go through was effectively just like grinding to lvl 20, it was grinding grinding grinding. The process was not enjoyable. I do know there were a couple of key hints from the divinely controlled NPCs, and without those it would have been even worse.

I don't know that there is even a server economy at all, so making the recipes available in game wouldn't hurt. We spent far more time and resources than we have ever reaped out of trying to sell our services. Some things are so rare you have to grind grind grind to get those.

It would be quite nice if there was a merchant NPC that you could pay in gold to custom craft what you needed and subsequently, also sold recipe books for those that wanted to RP, and or make their own. It would also be nice if you could provide the ingredients and get a lower cost. So you would have all extremes, someone who pays only gold, or gold and some or all of the ingredients down to just buying the books and just making their own.
