Trying out hard Core D and D rules setting on the server.
Moderators: Dasaria Game DMs, A&SI Moderators
HCR was a scripted implementation for NWN 1 that attempted to mimic pen and paper 3.0 far more closely that the standard NWN engine allowed. I believe it was community developed and was widely accepted by a lot of the strict roleplay persistent worlds. It wasn't something Dasaria ever adopted, because it did not fit in the vision Melthavion and Jehannum wanted for the server. It is unlikely that this ruleset will be adopted under NWN 2, even if the HCR script set was refactored to reflect the 3.5 edition ruleset changes.
It's just a game...
I don't want to harp on about HCR... but here's an example of my time in a HCR server (no it didn't last to long after this..)
Make Character :-
Log into server :-
Spend 10 minutes reading pages and pages of rules suggestions and restrictions:-
Log into server fully:-
Run about a little, see no one about:-
Wander out into surrounding area:-
See a nice little stream walk over it:-
Character drops dead:-
Note the small D20 roll in the server window and the message my character fell and died on rocks:-
Respawn and loose 1 con perminantly:-
Log out of server in disgust.
The end.

Hah, pretty bad. Never experienced HCR in NWN myself sounds interesting.Zephis wrote:I don't want to harp on about HCR... but here's an example of my time in a HCR server (no it didn't last to long after this..)

If my interesting you mean, archaic, masochistic and boderline retarded, then yes, the HCR ruleset is very interesting.
I'm always right. I'm also a jerk. It's not my fault you can't get over the latter to see the former.
Hurray for Me!

Or just starving in general. I tried one PW before I found dasaria that started you off in a city with no coins and after 15 minutes you started to lose hitpoints at the rate of one a minute unless you had some food and water to eat.Michael wrote:Once you end up with two screens of dead characters, the magic kind of wears off![]()
Mind, each character has a lot of thought put into it, as well. It completely bites when your ambitions for the little gnome rogue are snuffed out by a starving stray dog...

Now THAT is realism. I bet that if you didnt shower you would also lose Charisma points....that would s*** for Sorcerers....Mon-da-oth wrote:
