Area lag

Post by Arkalezth »

The area "The old road: Across the bridge" (the one with the river and the bridge troll) has been extremely laggy for me these days, even though it used to work just fine. It only happens in that area and a reset hasn't fixed it.

I went through that area earlier with another player who didn't get any lag, though I got it, and a LOT. It's been like this all week for me, and it used to be fine before that. Any idea of what's going on or why it doesn't seem to affect everyone?

I have not experienced any lag in this area, or the other area you cited previously after it was updated.

Is it possible you /Modules//Cear v16 directory is marked read-only or something?

Just checked, and no, it's not marked as such. What I find weird is that it worked fine until a few days ago (I noticed it the day the giants area before Ravenswatch got fixed). Could it help if I reinstalled Dasaria, or that area's file?

I tried this, just for the sake of trying something, and I don't know if it's related, but it's slightly better now: I get heavy lag when moving, but not when moving the camera around while standing still.

I'd still like to fix this properly, but at least I can click on transition points more easily now. If any other players happen to be near that area at some point, I'd appreciate if they could check it out to see if it's just me.

Another player just confirmed having the mega-lag in that area, so it's not just me.

Mass hysteria!

Could it be the treants and not the area? Are they spawned in when you experience this?

No, no enemies there, nor any NPC besides the bridge troll.

And the ferryman, I forgot about him.

To be clear, I don't know what treants you mean. I've never seen any (or any other creatures besides the ones I mentioned) in that area.

I've just went through this area and, for some reason, I didn't get any lag. I did get lag earlier today (no reset in between) and the previous days (and months), so I don't know what might have happened...

I'll try again after next reset and see whether it's fixed for good or was just a one-time thing.

For what it's worth, I got me a new computer a couple of months ago, and I still get lag and/or crashes in this area 99% of the time. In other words, it doesn't seem to be tied to the hardware, if that was a possibility.

Minor change made to area. Do the problem start at spawn in or as you cross the area?

Obviously you didn't kill the druid. You need to kill the druid in order to avoid the lag.

Crossed this area the other night. Very bad lag. A friend ran through first--we were out scouting and mapping--and complained. I passed a little later, when he was off of the map, and there was bad lag there as well, worse than any lag on any other map experienced on this server.

As a side question, is the transition to Desar River Valley broken?
