Havn't tried since the update, but yes, I crashed consistently and own a 1950XTX Radeon.

I'm running the same thing. I do crash, but its an Obsidian thing.. not a video card thing.

Now, the question still is, why am I fine everywhere else except those two areas?

Try using the latest DirectX 9.0c version.

There was an update to 9.0c back in October, and they did change a few things. If it doesn't help with the crashing, it should at least increase the framerate a bit (assuming you had a version prior to October).

I have an ATI Radeon X1600 (256 MB) and always crash when entering the Singing Seamstress and Hobbscobbles.

And yes, I always crash. I can't be playing Evelond 'til the server reset now.
