The 'Other Games We are Enjoying' Thread

Post by Grayle »

Man, I'm hooked on an RTS that is the most intense sound and visual experience I have experienced in the genre. EVERTHING can be blown to pieces, and the detail is astounding. having played MoH:AA, Call of Duty and BF 1942, I would consider this game to be even more environmentally immersive than even the first person shooters. Superb intensity.

Company of Heroes Relic makes great games.

Here is a screenshot:

There is a demo available, but it's rather large: 1.7 gig.

The demo sold me. I went out and bought it the next day, and it's well worth it. Just really fantastic.

Mmmm... Relic games.

Homeworld, the ultimate space-based RTS.

As for what I'm messing around with, that would be Arcanum... just a great free-form RPG.

having ditched city of villains some months ago for just being arse once you had tried everything out *yawn* I had a tear at BF2 which is the only game installed on any machine I own at the moment.
I don't feel any shame, I won't apologise

Being a big fan of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War I was really hanging out for Company of Heroes to be good, sounds like it exceeded my expectations. I was in the beta, but the game ran at about 10 frames per second on my machine, which gave me a headache after about 10 minutes. I want the game, I just want a machine that can run it first.

Apart from DoW, the only other multiplayer game I'm playing at the moment is DEFCON, the global thermonuclear warfare simulator. I love this game, and the art style is very original (it's all vectors! hoorah!!) and the gameplay is so simple yet so strategic. This is also the first game that I have purchased online after playing the demo, and I'm usually very hesitant to buy anything online.

Myself, lanky and majawi also purchased a copy of Imperium Galactica II of eBay, that should be alotta fun when it gets here.

As for the single player front, I just finished another run through of Deus Ex (I've seriously lost count as to how many times I've played this, although I think I've seen everything so this could be one of the last). I'm also playing through Beyond Good & Evil again (this is a GEM in every sense of the word) and have decided to finally try and best Thief Gold without crapping my pants at the sight of every zombie. So far so good.

UFO AfterShock is getting a good run right now. It's basically Xcom with eye candy and a 3d engine.

*moves deliberately away from Paul..* Oooohkay..

Well, I got a game called FATE that had an hour trial on my new computer that I asked mummy to purchase for me (she wanted it too). So, we're both thoroughly addicted to it. It's a multi-level dungeon in which you have to get to a certain level, kill a certain monster, and you gain goodies along the way which help you pay for better weapons and armor and stuff. Some weapons and armor are available based on how much Strength, Dexterity, Vitality and/or Magic you have. Every time you level, you get points to put into that and your skills.

It's a time killer. But, extremely addictive.

**side note**
So if Arilyn was my wife in Dasaria One and I always refer to him as such, but now the new forum and no Dasasia One references.... *blink* whatever shall I call him NOW!?!?!?!?

**back to topic**

Currently "my wife" and I *winks at Arcanya* are playing Titan Quest and we both have Guild Wars sitting on the shelves (which if he had his way, we'd be playing that NOW!!!!, but we started a game and now must finish...). I totally enjoy it and also play alone when I have time and Arcanya is wasting time sleeping *rolls eyes*....

I LOVE when you open chests and you actually see the items fly out. i.e. You SEE a short sword or bow fling out when a chest is open.

I'm not a fan of the set camera angle.

Arcanya likes the frogs just randomly hopping about.

Titan Quest is indeed a lot of fun, especially in coöperative mode. I'm enjoying it a lot more than Dungeon Siege 2 (which we played and finished before TQ).

Titan Quest is a true Hack & Slash game in the Diablo-tradition. So if you liked the Diablo-games, you'll surely love this one. The details are amazing, you can see a monster approaching wearing a special item, which when he dies will drop.

I can't figure out how to take screenshots with this game unfortunately, but maybe my lovely wife has some on her laptop. :)

I like the game Destroy All Humans, but my intelligent side is slowly edging me away from that game and towards Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis. It's a kind of puzzle game, where there are nine levels and nine floors, and on each level you have to control toy Marios to get them to a gate. Once all nine levels of a floor are completed, you must face Donkey Kong. It's really addicting; and you can create your own levels, too! :)

Forsaken is a gem of the N64 that never made it big.

Haha was that the random futuristic moterbike deathmatch game?

I'm still playing through Lylat Wars/Starfox 64, that is the siikest game of all time. All my medals got erased so I'm having a ball earning them back again. :D

Newer games though I'm playing Defcon aswell which is awesome cheap fun. Also got a hold of Day of Defeat Source which is a good random death match game, though very twitchy and I'm hopeless at it. Will be picking up Dark Crusade when it comes out too, can't wait to play Necrons and the new Marines in that. :D
