I believe I know why this thread was created. My first night in the server was yesterday and the guards RP well. I did see the mohawk guard go down by trap and she did say //ooc KOS or something like that but it wasn't the cleric or the clerics trap that killed her. I do have proof of this. As I have a video over fraps as to who layed the traps.

Well its not really a server rules issue (it is perfectly within the rules to lay traps for the guards) so I'm not interested in a fraps video, however from the campaign perspective the guard faction may be interested in your character's account.

So yeah where do i post this, Last night I was rping with the guards and one of the gaurds was killed, by a trap, although it seemed it was my fault it wasn't there were traps, and me being a cleric can't lay traps (i don't think) with that being said a KoS was put on me and i dont' want to log on and be killed when i feel i can be cleared with a fine, since i didn't kill the guard, someone's trap did, besides that, how do I take it up to the ministry about guards acting unlawfully, I seen a rogue being accused of being a theif when they didn't cetch him (she was missing something maybe but that doesn't mean he took it, and even in real life they wouldn't have known that they were robbed) But with her accusing the guy as a theif (theif or not, they had no proof) the guard used their AWESOME POWERS of go by my rules or i'll kill you, which is what happened, they turned hostile on the rogue for intent of attack, the rogue had no reason to say he stole because there was nothing, there was no reason for intent to attack (i think they put hostile on, i'm not sure) can you answer my questions please? thanks

Reading this hurt my brain. Could you please restate the question? That is a run on sentence worthy of the guiness book...

Then please advise the player character's who are playing guards.

Make it clear that if they are not a DM, then they cannot mark another player Enemy of the State and thus should not "declare" anyone EOS. Gather evidence and let the higher ups (aka DM's) pass judgments.

It's seems a dangerous thing to have player faction attempt to represent, or actually believe they yield the power of the Empire whether they are based in the official state religion or military service.

They can certainly make a recomendation for enemy of state and it will usually be approved. However, everyone knows what its like to be involved in a heated exchange of play. Thats why there are checks and balances in place.

Since when is a player guard saying "KOS" the same as Enemy of the State? KoS means something entirely different.

What is going to happpen is irresponsible players are going to make it so not-fun for players to play guards that they will just quit and make new characters.

I am telling you it will be a loss to the campaign as a whole.

Being a player guard is a tough role to play. I feel players should pay them some respect OOC and most definately IC due to the fact that they provide a real backdrop and representation of the city.

When the guards are run off, that leaves the DMs to handle IC enforcement, and things would definately be more decisive then.

Take my advice Dasaria, give them a little respect. They are giving of themselves to make the game richer, believe me. You will miss it when its gone.

I can certainly speak to this, my oldest character went from Warlord of Nergal to Redboot in one day, and ya know what, I could only handle being a guard for about a week. Keep in mind folks that my character was eventually found to be a traitor, I've had my share of scorn from other players. But never have I had to put up with what I put up with as a guard.

My hat is off to all of them.
On the sixth day, God created man. A week later man returned the favor...

Certain types of players just have an antipathy for authority figures. This means when they play a character that deals with them the player gets frustrated and begins blaming the consequences of their IC actions ON the authority figure.

What people need to do is realize that every action has a consequence. Understand that if your character is the type that breaks the law, even if ICly they don't give a damn about if they end up hung or in jail the player will need to be able to take a step back and try to enjoy what is happening. It may seem negative at first, but real RP is the fulfilling kind that is not meant to satiate a player's ego or self esteem. It is the kind where you can turn any situation no matter how "negative" it is ICly into something positive for yourself the player to enjoy.

We don't always get our way in real life, there is no reason our characters should. You as a person develop and change when good and bad things happen to you, even the unexpected and sometimes unfair. Same goes for characters.

Once those who work against the campaign drive off the guards, the only authority figure left to blame will be the DM's and Admin. That's not a pretty sight nor are it's repercussions on any server, even with Admin like Jeh and Wyv who I feel are TOO forgiving sometimes.

Yeah sorry about my earlier post, i was in a hurry. Anyways last night i logged on and everyone was in town talking and rping with each other when two guards (katrina and jalean or soemthing) started chasing this halfling and stopped him. Katrina and jalean started accusing the halfing of being a theif read my otehr post to hear what happened.

Later i was accused of helping the halfing and demanded that they see if it were me or not, and me not liking the situation because they were abusing their powers (imo) by telling me that they had everyright to investigate me when i had nothign to do with it (they only did it based on my player name) I was just walking around town and i looked nothing like the guy that did help the halfling and they said it was me, they were determined to see that it was me who helpped the halfling, when if this was truely rp, they had no way of telling. They abused their guard powers and the game by reading my name.

So i ran not wanted to be givin a writ because i felt i had no reason to recieve one, the halfling wasn't prooven to be a theif and there was no proof and i was accused of helping a theif, i even told the guards what if i take this up the the ministry to proove my innocence, they told me the fee would be even larger due to court fees and what not, so i ran, outside i ran and Katrina ran into traps and died,

Katrina then told the other guard that she was putting a KoS on me, which is why i don't want to log on and die, i hope that helped a little

Sweet, seeing as how i was harrassed for thievery for an hour and a half cus i bumped into Katrina as a Halfling.. grand. This i don't appreciate at all. Now when you set hostile towards me and i end up killing you you get mad? that makes perfect sense. But hey, i think i have a solution.

if you're going to start sht with players and think you can get away with it because your a guard, maybe you shouldnt instantly start crying and threatening to post of these forums. I think i read somewhere on PVP ruleset: "IF YOU LOSE, LAUGH AND ACCEPT IT AND BE ON YOUR WAY".

Besides that why would you make harsh consequences for "evil" players, it gives the server some fresh action, instead of the routinely killing computer controlled enemies for quests and grinding.. now your enemies have minds and critical thinking.

although i do agree senseless killing should be taken care of, and has been taken care of accordingly by the GMs already.

btw i posted all this because i believe this was posted because of some of the events that occured last night

Maybe if you read it twice, it'll sink in.
