This is going to sound stupid and undoubtedly this is the wrong spot for
this, but is there a problem with private messages? I came home from
taking my final exam and my email said I received a private message at
11:37 am this morning - but weren't any new ones in my box.

Just wanted to ask.

Whoever sent me that message might want to send it again.

This just happened to me. I got an email notifying me of a new private message, and I even checked it to make sure it was to Evelond Formos... but I have no new private messages.

Strange.

on some other boards that have spam addons installed to catch PM spam, you still get notified if a PM Spam is caught and deleted. Maybe that's what happened?

Sometimes the e-mail notification is so slow to arrive, you've already checked the PM before you get the notification. I have had those notifications arrive days after I've already seen the PM. So it may seem that you have a new PM, but the notification was actually for a PM you've already read.
