PvP Question

- If I am fighting multiple wolves (example), and I kill a few, and am fighting the rest - and while I am fighting, someone runs over and takes the loot from them - can I kill them under the pickpocket rules? (i.e stealing, just in another form).

That's the kind of logic that get's people shot in the face, because you can look down the barrel of a shotgun and you know there's no way it'll fire because you can't reach the trigger.

A question doesn't require logic - the answer does

I'd try to RP and let them know it's against the rules. If they continue doing it, I'd attack them.

They are probably only 1st and second level :) so i'd just warn them and move on. I wouldn't think they'd follow you around grabbing your stuff after you warned them off but i'm not positive some ppl act as if they cant read . LOL

A question requires logic if you want it to make sense. In fact, everything other than subconscious actions require logic. But this is semantics.

Pickpocketting rules are there to prevent abuse of the PP feature. What that guy did was not abuse in any way. Was it mean? Maybe. Was it unfair? Maybe. Did it have anything to do with pickpocketting? No.

thats pretty much what i'd do - and depending on what the loot actually was, if it was something like the bear hide that i put a lot of effort into killing (goddam he hits hard) i'd ask for it back... and well... if he refuses... can i kill him until he returns it?

or is it not stealing?

ok then here's the logic you didn't get - it's got nothing to do with pickpocketing - it has everything to do with STEALING - pickpocketing IS stealing. and some more logic concerning RP, if we were infact our characters, and someone stole the loot off our kill - we WOULD kill them, if it wasn't returned.

Hmm, I did this recently, in what I thought was a rather severe case. Saved some unarmed lvl 1 "near death" PC who was surrounded by wolves (3) North of the Cear gates. Killed 'em for him, and expected to get a wolf hide out of it to complete that quest. (I'm also lvl 1.)

He looted them all, so I killed him with a sneak attack. Normally, I'd just warn him, but he took all the loot he did no work for, in gratitude for me saving his hide.

Seemed pretty reasonable to me. And, hell, I'm a Drow rogue, so he really ought to have known better than to cross me with 1 hp left, after I saved him. He, well, didn't see it that way.

If they refuse to listen through roleplay, and persist in their actions, it is your right to kill them. You can also ask them to vacate the zone for one hour (RL). If they refuse to do this, then you can seek a DMs assistance to help resolve the issue. For now, the best bet is via the forums.

But there's nothing in the server rules about stealing [kills].

Again, people give too much credit to other people so that they use common sense and that they can actually co-operate for reasons other than self-interest.

Oscar Wilde said it best when he said that in creating man, God somewhat overestimated his abilities.

Edit: Listen to Wyvern.

I got it from the get-go.

You in effect answered your own question with your very first post [this thread].

What that guy did had nothing to do with PP rules; in that context it wasn't stealing akin to stealing via abuse of the PP feature.

I just had very high DC on that sarcasm post, which you didn't make unfortunately.

I think I've seen a couple of INT rings about.

nm, you didn't get it after all

the question was - what are the PvP rules concerning taking loot off the ground.

Stealing loot is not against the rules of the server.

PVP with a roleplay context is not against the rules of the server.

Stealing and or killing in town can land you in a permenant KOS in town state. We call that becoming an enemy of state.

Enemy of state is a RP concept and has nothing to do with the rules of the server.

Those are the server rules. They define the outermost limits that will keep you from being banned. They have nothing to do with respect for your fellow player, ethics, or with common sense.

The rules are fully defined here:
viewforum.php?f=11

The server rules do not exist as a guide of conduct, but again...as the outermost limits to avoid administrative action.

You can have never broken a single server rule, yet be desipised by the community, denied groups and parties, or be excluded from RP based on your conduct. The staff has no control over how the community percieved you. Only your actions define that and your place within it.

Remember, that level one you smack down could be me ;p
