((Annoying, and OOC))

Post by Grayle »

Hail and well met!

((Do you know where the Bugzbears are?))

((Yeah, I do. I got this +2 Scythe there.))

((Omg, cool.))

((I want a +2 shortsword.))

((What class are you?))

((I'm aalredy lvl 10.))

((Omg! let's go kill bugbears.))

((lol, kk. You got kits?))

((No, I'm only 3rd level))

((Want a +1 flail?))

((omg cool.))

((did you hear what happened to Gordakaar?))

((Mark's Drow killed him.))

((wow :)))

((What was that?))

((What?))

((That!))

(What?))

((That weapon that guy had. wtf?))

((Where?))

((omg it was cool.))

Aye, let's go quell Bugbears!

Was this conversation OOC or IC? Could it have been handled using private tells? Why even bother with the parentheses?

Now, I'm not trying to get a rule made to govern the way people communicate or play thier game.

I'm just letting you know you are -annoying- when you do this.

I'm not interested in emberassing anyone or citing instance. That's a fictional conversation reminiscent of many I have recently been witness to.

It ruins mood. It's like people talking during a movie.

Something I've been excited about is my new logging program! (actually a month old, but who's counting?) It works on my computer, but I want to make a universal version that everyone can use.... Only I can't be arsed to finish it.

Or party up and speak in Party chat. Easier than tells and doesn't bother people who don't want to hear this.

That's what usually happens. Tells are too difficult to use thanks to the black glass company. I have the feeling this problem will lessen as Obsidian get their act together. Still, they're currently making Bioware look like saints and that my friend, is a wonderous feat indeed. Let's hope things pick up soon and we can be saved from d00dz0r4g3 A +2 Scy7h33!!1

Hehe, I've noticed I OOC: in main chat more than I should probably, I'll try to keep it down to private tells when i must OOC: or at least to group (/party) chat. (I don't think I'm as bad as some people, but i'm still pretty nasty with the... OOC:, stuff, this is my first RP server in a Nwn setting though... actually my first server overall for Nwn2 heh, so it's kinda "easier" for me to first meet people using OOC: chat, but seems more rewarding if I try to attempt it in RP-fashion... [Like most of my interactions with Gar Bloodybeard seem to be RP'd isntead of OOC, since i RP'd with him since the day I meet him and kind of got used to his character]) [/i]

I don't mean to sound like a jerk, really. And I'm not singling ANYONE out at all. I've just been bombarded with this of late, it seems, and part of the responsibility lies within me to just accept it.

Dasaria has always welcomed all types, never playing the subjective role-playing police. Thier tolerance has always been one of the things that allows them moderation with fairness. It's admirable. However, they reward role-playing, in many various ways, and events are almost always built on the premise of role-playing and continuation of plot and story. The DM client will change everything. Be prepared!

Play the way you want. I'm not telling anyone they MUST get in-character and earn an Oscar. I just want people to realize when the immersion has suddenly been eliminated from everyone near, due to the sudden appearance of ((man, Sorcerer 18/Paladin 2 roxxors!))

Whoa. I wish I was that guy with the weapon they were talking about. It must be really cool for them to talk about it out of character.

Hehe , yeah you are right .. It’s just like someone talking through a good film .. Like when an Horc says something intelligent and then “((I have Int 13))” follows .. I never thought about it like that before ..

Yes I think its best to talk OOC in tells or party chat , but the above asking directions , talking about weapons and healing kits can be done IC with no need for party chat .. Once you get used to it you will hardly ever go OOC , try it ..

So like, a question... Is the Forum OOC In-game or is this Forum like a forum in roman times or whatever (not a history buff :P) and all the stories that occur here I could perhaps talk to about the person in-game depending on whether or not their RP character wants to talk about what was written on the forum... ahh i confused myself now :? :?: Does anyone get what i'm trying to say?? :P

the fourm writtings don't mean that you know everything about a character, they give indications of where a character is heading, but if i say 'i bought a nice tie but I never show it to anyone' you couldn't say 'nice tie why don't you wear it'
Is that what you mean? heh.
I don't feel any shame, I won't apologise

Well, as far as i know, forum talk is considered OOC information that's not supposed to be used in game...

that being said, atleast during Dasaria 1 there were IC letters on the forums constanty that had significant weight in game aswell... so i dont really know.

Perhaps you should use your best judgement on what you can and cant use in game.

though what muletang said was fairly correct, you cant base your judgement or knowlege of an other character on the content found on the forums, for instance you cant possibly approach someone in game as a friend you have known for years if the only way you know him is by what you have read on the forums
