Brother and Sister

Post by StaffSgtSkunk »

Zeo didn't know who to trust or believe anymore as he was making his way back to his room at the Mistyvale Inn. He could understand that his sister was a Thrall but what he couldn't understand is what she did. It didn't add up and Minuvas telling him one thing but Reina and the others another it was confusing him.

When he entered his room and closing the door behind him, Zeo wasted no time in taking off his armor and putting on his new one. This armor was light and could be very easily damaged but yet it was dark almost black. Zeo had to know if what his sister did was true and the only way to do that was to find out himself.

Finishing putting his dark armor on he then covered his face so that only his hair and eyes were seen. Closing the cupboard and standing there for a moment thinking on this before leaving the room. He wanted to know the truth and what better way to get it than sneaking into where Thralls are kept at Thralls Gate.

He quickly made his way to Thralls gate to find Fayne as quickly as he can. Minuvas said that she was there but the question was if he was telling the truth or not. When Zeo arrived at the gate it was already dark so he wasted no time in entering the slave house first. Quietly but yet as quickly as he could he searched the place for a woman that he remembers but no luck.

She clearly isn't in the slave house as Zeo exited quickly and had another look around. Building after building was in front of him and yet he only had tonight to get the chance. Searching them all would take at least a day if not more but Zeo knew that she was close by. He only picked the biggest buildings to search and started straight away wasting no time.

His search was running thin as he was having no luck in finding Fayne and time was rapidly running out. The last building was the Temple of Lochwar and it would be the last place that Zeo would search but non the less he wasn't going to miss the chance. Quietly and as stealthy as he could be he made his way in hiding in the areas where no light was.

This was wasting his time searching above so instead he started to make his way further down into the temple and that’s when he could hear voices. These voices were a mixture of men and women who looked like they have been through hell and back. His eyes darted from one woman to the next seeing if he can recognize any of them.

Lucky for him they haven't seen him and neither did the guard who was with them but time was running thin, soon they will have to get up and work off there punishment. Then right in the corner but alone he saw a woman with the white hair that he recognized. To get her attention he had to draw the guard away from the cell.

Using the hilt of his blade he tapped the wall hoping that the guard would walk out thinking it was someone outside. It worked but it was close as the guard stopped in front of Zeo for a moment but carried on walking. As he did Zeo went towards the bars of the cell gate but knelt down as his voice was just load enough for her to hear.

“Is that you Fayne?”

The sun had leaved her with a tan, she had been working on the fields all day, her muscles were weak now. Used to the brick of what they could manage, and still they expected her to keep going. "Wash the floors clean Thrall" the words were as tinder carving into her dry skin...

How could it have ended like this? - She didn't steal if it wasn't for something good, and little did she expect the nobles to react this violent towards it. She knew it must have been Urghav the rich selfish prick who contacted the church...

... But little was to do about it now, she kept sweeping the floors on her knees. Her cloth ragged, dirty and filthy... At the least they gave her some fine meals, and a good bed. She thought about life, and how her days was supposed to end here within the church harsh grib.

The floor was sweeped clean, her body streched upwards leaving a cracking sound from her back. She held it with her hand for a moment and turned tiresome towards the hall where her room and bed was in, the other Thralls was talking. Laughing at times, she even saw one of them pull up a pack of Teshalian Essence which they agreed to share on another day. She stood with her arms holding herself, thinking about where her brother could be. She knew his life must have forced him to come here, after all.. His heart wanted him to honour his father, to bring valour trough battle.

.. A sound of metal being punched into the wall echoed trough the halls outside. Fayne turned with a frightened gaze towards the door, her mind being terrified she might have done something wrong again, but her eyes lightened instead as she saw who it was peeking inside the room...

"Zeo, my Brother.. How? - I mean why, and when?" She stood a moment in thoughts before a bright beaming smile came on her face.. But it was quickly turned serious again as she followed her sentence with "You can't stay, they will find you.. They will hurt me"..

Zeo blinked for a moment at her before looking at the locks of the door and quickly started to try and unlock it as time was cutting short. He looks slightly pissed at the fact that he heard her say that they hurt her. Zeo kept looking around as he tried to unlock the cell door.

“Im getting you out of here Fayne, no more will you need to do such work”

This lock might be really old and rusted but dam was it hard to unlock the lock.

“They wont hurt you any more”

Looking over his back just to make sure that the guard wasn't coming back the gate opened up as he walked towards her. Taking out a spare set of very dark clothing for her although as he looked at her he was more worried than anything. As he passed the clothing to Fayne as his eyes watered a bit looking at her.

“Can you walk?”

He kept on looking over his shoulder as he could hear the guard in the back ground.

Heavy, Iron, footed steps could now be heard marching in unison. What was possibly one guard, appears to be many. Making their way down to the narrow hallway where the thralls were kept in their quarters, was the man known within the Temple as the "Iron Fist" - flanked on his left and right by two heavily armed and armored burly Exemplar Regents, and behind him a single Maiden Initiate. This time, there was no ornamental robes in splendid regalia, beyond the eyes of the public the man dressed in the full Iron, Crimson, armor for which has seen him survive many encounters. The arrival of Zeo, looks to have been expected.

On his left arm, he carried a tremendous shield of equal color and bearing the cruel symbols of Lochwar upon them. In his right hand, a large heavy mace known by the unfortunate of the temple to cross his path - as "Vengeance". The large tome of Lochwar clung by the chain about his chest, and the faint scar on his right eye glowed in the dimly lit hallway. Whatever reservation, political kindness, or trickery Father Minuvas may have displayed in the public was fully pulled back now in the private hallways in the temple of Lochwar. For now only the cruel eyes of his God, the savants of Lochwar, and the thoughts of vengeance were upon him.

Echoing down the hallway as he approached them, the only word that slithered from his cold lips were "...Snyde"

Fayne shivered quickly moving past Zeo, she putted her ear against the wall holding a finger against her lips gesturing the rest to be silent.--

"No, no no, this can't be..."

She pulled herself away while shaking her head repeatedly, her expression fell leaving a slight white face. She was scared. She reacted quickly, taking the cloth which she hid instantly underheath the nearest sheet.

The sound from the hallway echoed closer, and she now was certain someone knew about Zeos presence.
Her eyes flickered from side to side.

"Zeo you have to leave! - You have to leave now, otherwise we'll both be trapped here. I will manage, I'll be fine! Just leave!" Her voice was desperate, the words thrown from her trough whisper.

She stepped forward to push his chest. Her eyes starts to be filled with water, her heavilly bruised arms from the earlier work showing themselves. Another push was thrusted against Zeo.

"I have the cloth, but if they catch us we'll have no chance anymore. - Leave, now!"

Zeo didn't like the idea of leaving Fayne here but as he was being slowly pushed back his hand slowly went to touch the handle of his blade on his back.

“I'm not leaving here without you!”

He turned towards the door readying himself for what could be expected before glancing at Fayne once more, he could see the fear that was in her eyes as they started to water up.

“I've spent too long looking for you and I'm not going to waste this chance”

His gaze on her was locked for moment on end as the footsteps got closer and closer. Zeo didn't have any time to leave now as he simply turned his gaze to the door.

“I wont ask you this twice so hide, hide in a spot where they wont see you”

His hand tightens around the handle of the blade for a moment while his other hand was touching Fayne hoping that she would do as he says. He didn't want it to be like this but non the less he was expecting something bad to happen, not only that if Fayne ended up getting hurt again he would make sure that the breathing men how did will pay.

“HIDE NOW!”

Zeo's voice was sharp but direct to Fayne however only loud enough for her to hear.

The thudding had now come to a well ordered halt. The grate Iron gate which separated the Thralls room from the main hallway was all that stood between the Thrall Quarters and Minuvas' small retinue. A Grovelling man, fiddling for the iron keys for the gate was a Neophyte, though he wore typical Neophyte robes he wore a particular pin over his shoulder sash - denoting him for some minor duty of some kind.

As they approached the Gate, the Neophyte seemed to fiddle in finding the right key for the Father as he said,

"Open It"

....but it would seem the Gate had already been broken into by other means. Before the Neophyte could even lift up his hands to explain the problem, Vengeance had drilled its way into the man's face, crushed bone and skin were smashed into the wall and a small crater of teeth and brain matter formed into the stone. A limp, lifeless body, now smeared slowly to the ground as fingers still twitched in a post-life attempt to plead for mercy. Minuvas merely leaned over, and plucked the pin off the man's sash before turning to the Maiden who was accompanying him. He extended his iron glove, which was now covered in a bloody mist - but barely noticeable given the natural color of the armor.

"Please have this delivered to Father Aylows, and request a new Master of Keys be assigned..."

An almost gentle hand curled from the woman's body, her eloquent but strong physique betrayed someone of speed and firmness. The grace in which the movement occurred was befitting of an Old Varanite Lady, with beautiful green eyes and dark auburn hair draped neatly above the neck. Such a lady of Varana was contrasted so strongly against the large, fist of Lochwar on her cloak - the ugly but sturdy looking leathers cinched to her body. The mace strapped to her waist was equally disturbing, having it's own bits of pieces of conquests past clinging to the corners. The smooth and lovely voice followed, one that would surely be mistaken at other times for the sweetest of motherly lullabye's,

"Yes Father"

Pushing now into the room, The Exemplars were flanked at the lone entrance of the room in which Thralls were quartered. The room did have one window, but it did not open to the outside world where rays of sunlight and joy could be brought in - instead the small 'window' only allowed unobstructed view of the Statue of the Master of Plots, the Lord of Vengeance - so that the Thralls could watch the services, pray before bed, and observe from a great distance the workings of the Church.

Within the actual room, there were dozens of Thralls. Who at the slightest sound of movement from beyond this Iron gate had scurried as far as they could into the corners of the room, lowering their heads to not even dare look at Minuvas. The sound of rattling chains shook the room as the Thralls, each tethered by the feet to the wall like a dog to a dog house , shifted to keep maximum distance from Minuvas.

Zeo, who was now presumably amongst the mob of Thrall's with his sister, was not easily recognizable in the dark room (As the Church of Lochwar generally dislikes the use of flames to alight anything).

The Exemplars remained by the door, but Minuvas motioned the Maiden. "I know the rat is here, find me the Fayne boy..."

And the iron thud of boots slowly paced about the room, scanning the herd before him with his Maiden...

Zeo was hiding with the crowed of Thralls but next to Fayne keeping her close to him so that she doesn't get caught. This was hopeless as there wasn't going to be a easy way out of this but non the less a true warrior has more than one plan. Zeo started to whisper to Fayne as he slowly but quietly took out three items from his pouch and placed them in front of her.

“Listen to me sister, the small bottle in front of you drink it and take these smoke bombs. I want you to run to Cear, don't look back and don't stop, find a woman named Reina and ask for a man called Garet”

He stopped for a moment as the man was walking in there direction but quickly finished what he was talking.

“I will be fine just do what I say”

With that he stood up and walked away from all the Thralls and into the light which the small window was giving off, ripping off his mask to show his face to Minuvas with a grin like always.

“Hey Minuvas, looking for someone?”

His voice was loud and really direct to him as he stood there with his usual grin but chuckling slightly to himself. Zeo only hoped that Fayne would listen to him and do what he asked as he didn't want her to see what would happen if things went bad.
