EXPERIMENT: Lucian Ashe

Normally I'd post a biography in the stickied thread, but I think this experiment warrents its own thread.

In short, for the values of clarity, transparency, and the spirit of roleplay cooperation, I'll be logging PCs influence on Lucian as if he were a sort of NPC, and making public miniquests. As I said before, this is HIGHLY experimental, and I expect to be challenged in my process.

In Long
All PCs Lucian meets will be logged as per the PC's true name and then the name he knows them by. This will hopefully give enough leeway to characters who portray multiple personas while still being ably organized.
If you'd like to abstain for whatever your reasons, I don't even need to know why, just ask and I'll remove the character's influence line.

Certain actions will add or subtract influence. Interacting with Lucian will add to influence. Ignoring Lucian will slowly degrade influence until it reaches the level of 0 (Stranger).

Why? I don't know, I think it might be interesting.
I also intend to keep a short "quest log" here, and general profile. The Quest Log is a Short on Lucian's current situation and opportunities for other PCs to interact or jump on the bandwagon.

This is an experiment to see how such clarity can make--or break--roleplay, if it even affects it at all. There is a fear of metagaming in the Dasarian community....I'd like to see how real that is, and how to cope with it if it does exist. I do understand the risks of exposing the character, but I also think that there are other means of exposure in the forum roleplay itself.

On concerns of it becoming a competition: Keep in mind that these values do not actually mean anything specific... a rating of "100" doesn't mean he'll die for your character or choose your character over someone rated at "85". It's a loose interpretation and logging experiment. Second, it's no more a competition to win over his trust than it is with any other PC. The only difference is something visible. Not even tangible, just visible. So it's not that much different than posting "so and so is a friend of mine" and other inner thoughts in meanwhile.

By far, the most extraordinary part of this experiment is the transparency of the character's inner workings and enabling PCs to interact with him and his story with foreknowledge (that icky word in roleplay communities, foreknowledge). My theory/hypothesis is that the Dasarian community is trustworthy and mature; "metagaming", that dirty word, is a natural component of roleplay in the sense that one always acts with the understanding that there's another player there, and that it is only a negative thing when used to godmod or control another character. In terms of story quality, I'd like to see how "bad" if at all it affects the quality of his story.
So try me, Dasarians. Take liberties with Lucian. It isn't MY story. Its OUR story, and it's an EXPERIMENT after all!

• With his father deceased at going on five years now, and Lucian coming of age, he's inherited a debt.
  Part One: Lucian and his family have kept afloat through a network of loans and labor. As of his birthday, Lucian has been allowed to float along, and a influx of recent business has fortified this position. It's still a far cry from being out of debt, but the family isn't going hungry. But how long can this keep up?
