Remember your sub-forum

Post by DM Odin »

Greetings factionised Dasarians!

We the DM team love to help your faction grow and prosper. In fact, the factions have been a central part of Dasaria since the beginning and without them the server would not be the same. Through faction-adventures we reach several players and you contribute to shape and mold the world of dasaria through them. Even though some factions oppose each other they also function to intrigue and push each other to even greater heights.

However, here is a reminder and encouragement not to forget about your sub-forum as a great tool to keep both your faction and stories alive in the longer perspective. Sadly too many settle with just chatting/talking to a fellow player or a DM. DMs, just like players, retire, grow inactive or are dragged away by a lot of reasons. That leaves the vital information locked to a few key persons.
Despite the common belief, we DMs are not mind readers. We do not automatically know or understand your past plots and plans. Sadly there has also been a few cases where players discussed a plot and gotten pretty far in their ideas but without allowing it to be presented in the sub-forum. Most DMs are not interested in picking this up.

Why you wonder?

Well, no DM wants to be given detailed instructions on a plot. They want the general lay-out, your goal and ideas on how to reach it. But from there its DM territory and if we don’t have been allowed in on your thoughts from start but instead are handed the “finished product.”it is harder for us to grasp what it is you want and to feel for the ideas.
If we can find notes and discussions about past endeavors that will however help active DMs to keep new and dormant plots alive. It also ensures that once you yourself retire or take a longer break - your ideas, and possibly the entire faction, will remain as your legacy long after you have gone for new players to pick up or be inspired by.
Some of the greatest and most long lived factions in Dasaria are those with active sub-forums. I hope we have not seen the greatest of them yet…

And if anyone was wondering - Yes, the DMs do read what is written in the faction sub-forums. We just don’t meddle with it unless it is obvious that we should. Factions are player led, not DM led.

Here are some more food for thought if you are considering joining, creating or picking up on a faction:

Cheers and keep up that Great RP!
