Re: It's Time
it really is like hearing a loved one has a terminal illness, doesn't it? I'm busily saving my favorite parts of Das and reminiscing of the good times with you all. I'm still around, as always if anyone wants to contact me or RP ( I don't know where to find the link but I am Bakon Knight on Steam.
I thank you all for the good times, wonderful stories and friendships and the inspiration to start taking writing seriously <3

Re: It's Time
Hi, everyone. I just want to echo all the previous posts and say that I'll miss this community and the great times in and out of the game. I may not have played much in the last year or so, but it's an odd feeling to know that Das and its players won't be waiting there for me anymore.
I consider many of you my friends, and it's hard to wrap my head around the idea of losing all contact with you guys forever, so for those who haven't done so already, feel free to PM me as long as the forums are up, add me to Skype or Steam (same username as here), or send me an email to arkalezth@gmail.com, even if it's just for the occasional friendly chat, or as Atharin put it, the equivalent of a Christmas card. I may not have talked to some of you in a while, but you'll always be welcome.
To the staff, I'd firstly like to thank them for their efforts during all these years, and also second MaoOn's request for the module's files, if such a thing is possible, so we can revisit the game world, and maybe hold a multiplayer session between a few of us every now and then.
I don't know what else to add, so in traditional Tah'nai fashion, I'll just wish you all for your beards to grow thick and the blood of your enemies flow true. Long live Dasaria!

Re: It's Time
Although I understand it's time, this hit me right in the heart with so many memories and nostalgia.
I will always remember my time in Dasaria and the wonderful friends I made here. I wish you all the best, and I'll check the forums like I always do occasionally until they no longer exist.
Much love,
Rheia

It was a good run. Sorry to see it go.
But I second a couple of people's sentiments here, I feel there should be a decent archiving should anyone choose to do something further with Dasaria.

Found my way here after I logged on to nwn trying to find the server. Dunno how I feel about this lol.
Grew up playing on Das off and on... off and on.. off and on since I was 16 I believe? Turn 30 next year. Literally since I was a know it all teenager, to a father of two girls. It's just always been there for when I got the bug.
This game has spoiled me so much when I compare it to others. Had some good times, some bad times. Made some really good friends who I still talk to to this day, some who drifted apart such as life, and some who don't miss me at all. lol
Cheers Dasaria, you're all a bunch who I'll probably remember for the rest of my life.

Re: It's Time
Waffles told me that it had finally happened. So here we are, huh...
I was 18 when I first heard about Dasaria. I'm nearly 35 now. That's half a lifetime. You guys, man.. My life would have been so much different without the complete addiction to roleplay and this community, lol. I could've been an astronaut!
But then, I wouldn't have been able to cope with things as I have, either. I wouldn't have known the same people, some of which are still my best friends. I wouldn't have visited the same countries. I wouldn't have learned how to make a perfect english fry-up, bangers&mash or vulcanoes, and I wouldn't have seen a Canadian stab people in Danish forests. I wouldn't have learned about game design, I wouldn't have learned how to write, and most likely I wouldn't have landed my current job either.., as one thing leads to another.
Ups & Downs. Back and forths. I have a very shitty memory, so I'll probably forget everything. But it aren't memories that last. It's the feeling. Occasionally I'll hear a song that I used to play a lot on Das1. Or I'll smell something I was eating whilst playing on Das2 and I'll get that same old feeling again. What sort of feeling? A feeling of comfort. It wasn't always sunshine and roses, but it was a home. To many.
We grow older, we live and learn, and in the end none of it matters but the feeling of once having belonged, despite everything.
TL;DR:
I don't game much these days, I don't log into steam, nor hang around on forums. But thankfully there's facebook. Connect with me on Facebook if we haven't already. https://www.facebook.com/Snapwyre

Re: It's Time
I just want to take a moment to say thank you. Wired, Wyvern, Rob, all the other countless staff, builders, DMs, content creators, and players, you all helped to make this place an amazing experience. Some of my best role playing moments were here in Dasaria thanks to all of you.
Thank you for putting in the time to keep this project going for so long. All of you are amazing and it was a blast to be here through all the ups and downs we had. This community helped me through some hard times, and was always there if I wanted to slow down and escape to another world, or practice my writing.
My one regret is that I never came back to hang out after my last hiatus over a year and a half ago. Amidst my interests drifting elsewhere, struggling with long work hours, and thyroid cancer, I've fallen out of touch with some good friends that used to play here and it fills my heart with so much regret. To all of you I'd like to offer a humble apology.
I wish everyone the best of luck. If you want to get hold of me send me a private message!
Thanks to everyone for helping to maintain such an amazing community all this time.

Re: It's Time
Huge thanks and much appreciation goes out to the members of the admin team for keeping the dream alive. I can speak from personal knowledge that a lot of time and money went into keeping the lights on.
Lots of fond memories from Dasaria. I have sunk almost half of my life into this place (and I'm 30 years old). Won't forget any of you. There are too many to count, you have all made such a powerful impact on this place and the people who have committed their time and energy into this story. It's been an epic ride.
Anyone who wants to reach out, my addy is dave.william.t(at)gmail.dot.com.
Cheers!

Re: It's Time
Greetings one and all. I'm sadden to hear that Dasaria has finally come to an end. But like all great adventures that come to an end, there will always be stories to tell and memories to share. And who knows, you may run into that fellow adventure(s) someday to share yet another quest.
I didn't play Das2 much, though I helped a little with some of the content, but Dasaria as a whole will always have that little place in my heart, a thought in my head, with a smile on my face. Good luck to you all. I truly hope to encounter you all again someday.

Re: It's Time
Logged in this morning just to see what was going on - was very saddened to get a private message from an old friend saying Das was shutting down (Haxley).
I've had more good memories than bad in Dasaria, and it is truly a shame to see all of that end.
My biggest regret was not finding time within the last few years to log in more - to say goodbye to some of you.
Love you all. Thank you so much for the memories.
