I see such actions as griefing. No better than the player who runs around killing random level 1 players shouting that they killed his father.

In my opinion; initiating PvP should not be done without getting a response from the player you intend to attack, IC or OOC. And definatly not without putting up hostility first.

Well, drow aren't KoS as far as I know and if you don't get any RP out of someone then it's impossible to say you attacked them through course of the RP, because there wasn't any.

Try not to be too angry though, Eodregnar! These things happen...

Well, I stand by my defense. In my opinion that situation was RP-justified, given the factors there were. He certainly had some time to reply, since me and BR were party chatting as well.

On the OOC side it would have been fun to see yer HIPS, we both had maxed Spot ranks (rogue and monk), would've been nice roll fight on that :)

If you are going to get into PvP, make sure that you are doing it 100% in character.

And use common sense.

I would see little wrong with characters or a lynch mob killing a drow for their reputation. But common sense also says that if you are 10th level and just wade into first level drow, play respectful.

There have been many characters in the past that have hated drow as a race, just because they exist. The PvP was well handled, and sometimes attacking on sight happened.

Just so everyone knows, not upset or bothered by the way that one played out. And playing a Drow do expect hostility.
Shortly after this happened the server went down. So i used the scenerio to get a little clarification on PK.
As for in game, my character i am sure is going to be less tollerant of running into these two again (since they were the last ones he saw before he woke up) lol... I think putting people to dislike will be my way of doing it. doesnt mean i am going to attack. just means both parties know that the possibility is there.

edit...
Guess that brings up a new question. If some one puts you to dislike, do you take that as an act of aggression and attack or just be on your guard. Dont want fighting all the time just because i do this.

Yep! Makes stealth work properly as well! :)
In fact I have thought of setting hostile certain people just for proper stealth.

I agree with this also. As long as it is known server wide and if the tables are turned later, the rules don't change. I.E., Charater 1 is a known drow hater who attacks on site. Drow 1 see's him alone and does the same back. OOC Charcter 1 is mad and does complaint to DM, Drow 1 is banned/ has warning and will be banned next time.

Only problem I see here is you may have some problems when people accidently attack you because you're set to red, and misclicking can make red = dead without them ever meaning to.

Hehe, there used to be a group of characters who logged on and immediately flipped everyone to dislike. Players RP'd it great, acting as if they were just feeling nervous, some mages acted as if there was some kinda funky energy thing going on, really to each their own.

Wait, i'm confused. Are you saying its ok to pk on sight a drow, but after words, say a day later, he can't do the same to you? This just seems wrong to me. Its like setting it up so you can grief players who play drow without consequence. I mean, if your a known drow killer, you kill drow onsight, isn't it prefectly reasonable the drow char (ic wise) would know this and would kill you on sight as well?

I hope I just read this wrong. Considering on the forums how much you post your distaste for the drow race (ooc wise), this just seems like your way of grieving them and trying to force them to play what you want. I probably just read it wrong though, sorry for this post if I did.

P.S. sorry, don't know how to quote right, first time i've ever tried.

If anyone raises arms or murders within the city, then they are likely to wind up an outlaw and KOS in town. The Governor of Cear has had it up to "here" with the lawlessness taking place in the north part of town.

Im just giving you a warning shot.

Sorry for the confusion. i was meaning i dont want to worry about a rule issue, if the drow does the same back to others.

I understand and dont worry about being PK'd (if this isnt a rule violation) by suprise. Just as long as the other person realize the same may be done in return to them. "Revenge is a dish best served cold"

I support this sentiment.

A fair amount of OOC consideration means give that person a chance to respond. Not everyone types at the same speed. If the person ignores you, opens chests, goes to the next room...thats obvious. If the person is standing entirely still, at least have the courtesy to let them reply.

And, if you suspect PvP is not far, turn them hostile. Even before they reply if possible.

This seems to be the best answer so far. As long as the other person doesnt attack just because they were put to "hostile". Would still like to see some conversation with characters that are known to dislike each other. Even if they fight or a fight is avoided.

Just for clarification i do not condone PK. Will talk or leave if possible before it starts. But want clarification on server rules.
