Quick questions...

Post by sheerborn »

Hello Dasarians.

I'm new here and have a few questions. I glanced at the server rules and didn't really see anything describing the death system. So my question is:

What happens when you die?

I also was wondering if anyone has any idea why my game keeps crashing. I've only logged on twice to the game to just take a look and I've already crashed twice while zoning. The first time it happened I was zoning out of the newbie inn. The second time was when I was zoning into the newbie inn.

When you die you lose a set amount of XP, and Gold.

The XP and the gold you lose, increase as you have more XP or Gold total -respectfully.

The zone crashes are a problem that Obsidian has yet to fix, and nothing that - I know of - is on the end of the Das II's team.

However, I've been known to have been wrong in the past *rarely* :).

Is the person that kills you able to loot the gold for themselves? Or is the gold just taken away from you?

When someone kills you he/she can't take anything from you, as far as I know. I don't think you lose any exp or gold for dying at the hand of a player, though.

also when someone kills you, or you kill them the loser has to leave the "area" for 1 hour.
This isnt practically possible most of the time at present but i think you get the idea :)

as far as i know corpse bags will be coming at some point in the future for pvp death where you will lose a random item in it - at least this is how it was in das1
I don't feel any shame, I won't apologise

You DO lose gold/xp when dying at the hands of a player, unless v4 changed that.

Did they change that then? I got killed by that half-orc (can't remember his name now) when i didn't want to give him 50 gold, and i lost xp and money.

oh.. god..... i can see the problems that will cause in terms of ooc pvp
Most of the time, the victor would allow the defeated to reclaim their things and then leave the area. They didn't have to. If you drop it its gone - and that could be weapons, cloaks, rings, ioun stones.. anything.

The fact that it happened to everyone engendered a relatively nice pvp environment - if you always keep peoples things you can guarantee people are going to keep yours, and try hard to get them.

If PvP turned ooc for the purpose of stealing someones items (when the PvP item drops go in), that player will in all likelihood get banned.
It's just a game...

for sure i would never let the dead reclaim his item if he's the one who assaulted me...i mean, you try to kill me, why should i let you get your item back? (if i survive of course)
every action should have its conseguences

When I engage in PvP I fight dirty (Improved disarm) so even if I lose I usually have one of your weapons. What I've done (twice so far) is offer the weapon back for 1/6th it's cost and if they don't want to pay, I'll hold onto it for a day before giving it back.

I will probably extend the same rules to equipment, I'll carry it back to you if we can work out some sort of OOC reward for my IC corpse robbing. OR. You get your items back a day later.
The largest wound will come from those you considered friends.
