its amazing they put the focus on other factors other than releasing a game that the majority of people who bought it had nothing but a complete mare using for the first 2 weeks, and even after that had a completely rubbish time with in game mechanics, crashes etc etc etc etc x a lot more etc.
The mere fact that it was not released as a workable game sapped the enthusiasm. they'll probably come back and it'll pick up later on, but the reasons they give as being a lot to do with pwcs and the like seem to be off the mark - we all download patches these days and it takes relatively little time.
the only thing, the only thing, that kept me going on nwn2 was Das and the dudes et dudettes that make it what it is
I don't feel any shame, I won't apologise

Dasaria is the only thing that makes me spend any time with NWN2 anymore as well. Thanks for managing it. Condsidering how few servers there are though thier 2 people per server boast is... well... depressing.

Ever see field of dreams? Build it and they will come.

No one is playing NWN2 because it had a flawed launch and there is very little content out there for it. If you want to build a comunity you need people who see potential in the game to make some decent content for it. Dasaria is a great example.

Working with the toolset on a large scale project is a trial in patience and sheer force of will. It takes a a good amount of time to do what used to be a basic and simple matter in NWN1. I think that is also a daunting factor to pw developers.

GG Obsidian, it's like putting Firefly on at ungodly times with no advertising and saying "Hey it's not rating well, people don't want this!" GG indeed.

When I first read the title of this thread I thought "O RLY?" I mean, why oh WHY wouldn't peope just LOVE NWN2? Hmmm? New graphics, 3.5 ruleset, everything's awesome, right? Right?! Oh, you mean... the bugs? How many of 'em? ... Say wha'?! Ooookay, I gotcha, nevermind, go ahead and play WoW, less buggy...

If the NWN2 producers can't figure this on their own, they must be more silly than I thought.

This is the first time something I have said has been cited by another for its profundity. I'm a little geeked right now. :D

It baffles me what Obsidian where/are actually aiming for, they've pushed a lot into the single player which is nice. But the single player was poor on NWN in my opinion, I can't really see that anyone would be influenced to purchase NWN2 if they had played just the oc's from NWN.

The pwc is quite off putting to casual gamers and I'd personally have prefered seeing as we have to d/load it that the pwc held more information so the area loading times could be cut down a bit as well.

Also the pre release scores/ratings of NWN 2 are quite astoundingly high.. 90% from Pc gamer. Someone must have a very high intimidation skill down at the Obsidian HQ :)

I got to play 3 hours solid last night and had great fun after owning it 5-6 weeks and d/loading three game patches and then an altered driver for my radeon card, I would imagine before that I've spent at least 5-6 hours of my valuable gaming time cursing at the monitor as it crashed again. Its a joke really, they shouldn't released something that obviousily not finished.

The fact that we enjoy Dasaria 2 is not due to OE - in the end, the DMs do have to deal with the broken delivery of this system.

I'm pretty certain that if any other studio released NwN2, Dasaria 2 would still exist.

OE butchered the possibilities the NwN franchise had. NwN1 lived so long because of PWs, and OE decided to focus on single-player, instead of catering to the already existing base of customers.

Of course, on the other hand, they can probably port the SP to consoles *Snicker*

Bottom line: few people play on PWs because the game is broken/does not support PWs on release - which is really the only date that counts as far as I'm concerned. The industry needs to realize people are not interested in paying for beta testing their products.

I consider myself extremely lucky to play on Dasaria 2. The Crew here has done such a great job that I get absorbed in the adventure and forget about most of the game's shortcomings. It is funny but the only time I think the game is subpar...is when I read some of the posts on the official boards :)

It can't be said too much....Thanks for Dasaria 2!

Damn right.

Any other game that would CTD on me so often would get tossed in the bin already - I have little time to play to start with

Kudos to the development team, and the players.

I'm telling you, threads like these make it a helluva lot easier to open that toolset and get cracking.

NWN2 is a fantastic game—the things one can accomplish are phenomenal. If only Obsidian/Atari delivered it differently. There is a lot of potential here.

***spoiler warning***

I'm really impressed with the little things you all do. Like the oversized orc for the Ambassador of Kor and the mini bugbear scouts. And transforming the Illefarn ruin tileset into a great basement of the goblin cave with a little creative use of a lighting. It's really hard to recognize.

You all do a good job actualizing the potential.
