Tower Aggro Radius

Post by ChikenKannon »

Insane. To say the least. We entered the building and EVERY enemy attacked us. To give you an example, we stepped onto the second floor. Fine. Opened the first door and the BUTCHER came running at us!

EDIT: I have a hunch someone Ninjaed the place. At every locked door the key was dropped outside the door.

Did you guys make it? It was fun as hell when it happened to us. I bet you are right, someone must have agroed them somehow (invis maybe)?

Yeah Kaz, we beat the snot out of the place.

Suffice to say though, it's really tough when a good 80% of the floor charges you. Good thing we had an above average size party of 6.

This morning I see the same thing, a key in front of the gate and the whole dungeon is spawned and triggered..... wonder if the key triggers that behavior?

Yes, pretty much the whole floor comes at you at once.

Now I am thinking these are farmers, run through the first time, get the key put it by the door. Do the quest and then run through again collecting the loot. Can we make the key a quest item/no drop?

Woah! I think the chosen term that applies here is "ninjas"... let's not start blaming the farmers for this sort of repulsive behavior. They're hard-working folk.

This sounds like someone is going invisible (wizard/sorc/warlock/bard/cleric can do this to an extent, so can't point any specific fingers), and running through to loot all the chests (spawning all of the enemies in the process). To get the keys, they're probably using a powerful single-target spell on the key-holder and re-casting invisibility before having to fight anything.

I can't test this to be sure, as I don't have anyone who can cast invisibility, but I've seen wizards do this in the bugbear caves, where the aggro range might not be as severe.

Oh sure it was fun.....IF you lived and made it out ok. I can imagine some other folks would get very frustrated with this and come to the General forums to complain about it.

There are several ways to do it.

A bard with a high preform can sing their sanctuary song and just run through the whole place never getting touched.

A HIPS rogue can HIPS his way through the entire place. and use HIPS spam to kill the keyholders.

A cleric can Sanctuary through it and slay living the keyholders. If not inclined to solo the place:)

A standard rogue can just stealth it and pickpocket the keys.(I think, not sure 100% they are pickpocketable)
