I'm impressed he has sense enough to put a smoke detector on top of it all.

Mine looks like a huge pile of VHS with no covers. My firstborn took all the covers off and ate holes in most of them. That was before I had furniture to store them in.

heh, I must admit the smokey is only there cos I haven't got round to fixin it to the roof yet, heh, naughty I know.
Red Dwarf is the best!
I gotta admit I've never been one for any of the star treks (except Picard's one), babylon 5, stargate, serenity or any of that kind of thing. Dune though is the tv series and is great
I don't feel any shame, I won't apologise

I prefer Farscape, but Babylon 5 is a close second...

I saw Children of men this last weekend it's pretty good but could explain a bit more. Also the battle scenes in the city were distubingly realistic. I think now days with all the blood and violence hollywood puts out when you get a movie where it's not over done and realistic looking it's even harder to watch.

ThePhotoshop wrote:Eragon. I think you guys should all go see it, you'd pick up some great tips for fantasy writing.
the book was decent and the movie somehow made it into a horrid piece of crap. dont get me wrong, im not eragon fanboy. the hackneyed plot and characters are ridiculous. but the movie was just nasty. the first 30 min. of the movie was like watching a poorly made fantasy version of A New Hope.

good fantasy writer = Steven Brust. i really hope they dont make any Vlad Taltos movies, though.

Black Hawk Down - Horrowing and Awesome.

Chasing Amy - Hilarious, my favourite sudo romantic comedy.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike back - Stoners doing stoner things. Damn fine.

"In her shoes".

It was interesting... but I've seen better anyways. Though it made me feel like watching these sappy family dramas again... or comedies actually.

Most Recently I saw Pan's Labyrinth. Its pretty beautifully crafted. I loved the final scene of the Villain who was excellent. But it can't compare IMHO to the brilliance of "Labyrinth" which is still one of my all time favorite fantasy films and in ways Pan's Labyrinth seems offhand inspired by. But far inferior.

Some other recent mentionable movies are Shinobi, an Amazing Japanese Action Movie with fantastic Ninjas. Lunaci/Sileni a complete suprise of wonderful derangement and intelligence, and Oldboy. Probably the best movie I've seen in the last 2 years.
