Books you think should be turned into movies.

...If they didn't end up as complete crap.

What're the odds that a good book actually turns into a decent movie?

Go watch Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

Courtesy of Jay. If you're first line is better than the Subject Line maybe IT should be your subject line.

I'm always right. I'm also a jerk. It's not my fault you can't get over the latter to see the former.

Hurray for Me!

alright, i know i said in another thread that i wouldnt want any vlad taltos books turned into movies, but thats because of how bad the majority turn back.

in a perfect world where movies are always badass adaptations, id love to see Jhereg made into a movie. id also love to see Battle Angel Alita turned into a movie, and im getting my wish! just hope its good.

They could try with Starship Troopers again... perhaps make it somewhat similiar to the book and good this time?

Legend by David Gemmel would be nice to see on the big screen, too. They'll probably change the story to make it more appealing to the public, though. Bastards...
Moreover, I advise that Carthage must be destroyed.

none, esp if I have read them

I don't see the need. Just read the damn books people. Everything doesnt need to be on a screen to be good.

I saw a trailer for a book I loved as a child being turned into a movie. Why? Do children not read anymore?

I'm not letting my boys watch Harry Potter movies either, until they have read the books first.

Books are, almost every time, better.

There is no "Suspension of Disbelief" with books.

Why not? I certainly suspend my disbelief every time I read a fictional book.

Regardless, it is fun to see a movie of a book you thought was awesome, because it reminds you of just how awesome the book was.

That being said, I seriously hope the Artemis Fowl books get their spot on the screen. Oh, and The Supernaturalist!!!!! :)

gotta disagree with ya there buddy, although it wasn't the book (which was great) I really enjoyed it as a movie. The uber cheddar was just fantastic. entertainment value was high even if the brain barely had to fire.

Like the style Tin, give the films as a reward for the reading - I know it shouldn't have to be like that, but these days it is more of a struggle to get kids to read book with all the other distractions that they'd rather be doing.

My kids are gonna hate me (when I get some) I'm gonna be embarrasing and silly and might possibly just have a tv in my room and nowhere else in the house muharhharharharhr

Perhaps, but you are not watching real people pretending to be and do things they can not in real life.

Uh, yes I am, in my head. A mind is a movie screen with video quality better than any other in the world. ;)

Eve pretty much said it.

They can't screw the book up when making it into a movie in my head.

They can't omit ENTIRE SCENES THAT ARE VALID TO THE PLOT in my head.

Well, wait, I should be fair about this. Movies don't do that..

..especially not Harry Potter movies..
