Graphics Card Settings

Can anyone who plays the game with a NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS tell me what settings they're using for the game? Max or Min or in between?

I did something to my settings, and now I have two problems that I'm fairly sure are linked somehow.

(1) Occasionally I'll get (and this is happening more often lately) what I call 'clothes distortion' where it looks like someone took a piece of the thread from an outfit a character is wearing and pulls it across the screen somehow, and this happens with landscape too, grass last night was in outerspace.

(2) I am still getting BSOD every once in a while, though if I defrag, it seems to go away for an extended period of them. This one is sorta disturbing me because I only have like a small smidgen of my hard drive used. I'm not even close to using the entire thing yet. This happens when I'm on the internet, or when I play NWN1 or NWN2. Those are the three times it happens, just says "Driver IRQL Not Less or Equal". I haven't updated drivers lately, except what Windows Update has done.

Thanks, I was having the same problem.

Well I downloaded the drivers and installed them but now the problem is much worse and even causes my PC to crash.

Also I now get a horrid blue screen when it crashes which informs me that my drivers got stuck in an infinite loop; any advice on how to resolve this would be most welcome. (please be advised I am no techy so step by step guide please)

DLed the drivers, and after restarting the comp because it errored upon starting NWN2, and then again after it errored after trying to access IE, I appear to be fine, but I'm crossing my fingers. Graphics wise, appears to be solved.. so far.

Vahene I recommend you download this little program and run it to remove any leftover Nvidia or Ati drivers on your system.

Here are the steps to take when using it.

1. Start up windows normally and remove the installed drivers with add/remove programs. (make sure you have the driver instillation file saved somewhere other than C:\Nvidia as it will probably get erased)

2. Restart windows into safe mode and run the program picking nvidia, nvidia WDM, and ATI from the list. (You'll have to check off the select multiple filters box)

3. After it removes the extra files restart your computer normally and THEN install the drivers.

Trust me, this works wonders in clearing out strange errors.

I can't seem to find my driver file to move it so can't test it out.

I hope my techy mate will pop round for a few drinks this weekend and fix my graphics card issues. After downloading the drivers using Wyv's link I get the blue screen of death when I try to load up any game.

I tried following Elriths instructions but failed miserably. Look forward to seeing you all ingame whenever I get back in. I hope someones char is causing trouble and burning things during my absence.

Sorry you are having issues with the driver install, Explorer. Nvidia installs never usually give such catastrophic results.

You DO have an Nvidia graphics card, don't you?...

Edit - and to be more specific, an Nvidia 7-series card?

I have a NVidia Geforce 7900 GS graphics card and downloaded the NVidia driver version 6.14.10.9424

Just a thought that is the right driver isn't it?

Okay, found the drivers under Nvidia Drivers.. did the rest of what you said including the disk cleanup, reinstalled the drivers, etc, etc.. and it did seem to improve the display but I still have the same error.

But you can see how the display is pulled? That happens to clothing, etc. as well.

But, as you can see, the graphics card looks wonderful other than that. Heh.

I have now followed all the instructions and defraged my PC. Multiply Vahene's screen problem by 30% and thats what I currently get. Since I completed the suggestions I have tried to play a single player game a couple of times, still same screen effect problem up when I load the game and then crashes, also I have not got the horrid blue screen of Death yet.

I have a 7600GT and never had any problems except for the standard NWN2 crashes. No wierd GFX bugs or BSODs. Do your graphics cards have active or passive cooling? Have you checked whether your system is not getting to hot? And i just hope you are not doing such foolish things like overclocking

Vahene screenshot looks a bit like the effects that you get when you GFX card is overclocked or overheated

As for the temps (finally found the gizmo) .. I'm anywhere between 52-62 or so out of game. *shrugs* I just read a few people on the NWN2 boards just replaced their video cards - but I'm uncertain how this could be a bad card because this is a brand new card/computer (new as of last October, that is, but still rather newish).

I bought my PC in January from a mate who had bought it in December so still new and my techy A.K.A Trinn checked it out then gave me the bad news that my graphics card needs replacing because it must be screwed (Obsidian style).

So I am very annoyed because it's still new and I only use my PC for a few tasks
