What do you think ...

Post by Alander »

I've heard a lot of complaints lately. About Dasaria. That when you reach 20th level, there's nothing else to do. The truth is that rp can get boring even for hardcore rp-ers. Sometimes it's not enough, they say.

The problem lays in the game mechanics - when you reach certain level, there're two options for you. You can start in a tournament once few months and rp a lot. That's all, thank you. I agree, it's not enough.

The main issue is the lack of pVp on the server. By pVp I don't mean two 20-level players slashing noobs all over the city. It's just as boring as rp-ing 24/7. I think there should be some organisations that could compete. Race factions, proffesion guilds...something! Eventually conflicts would occur, leading to wars and many events that could add something really interesting to our campaign.

It's true that Dasaria is very small at the moment. Everything takes time. Especially creating unique world that would live its own life. It doesn't mean that we can't make this world interesting. I've got a little something to say to those who complain all the time - quit talking and start doing something. Create a faction, ask dms for help. Hopefully, people will join after some time. Don't copy those guilds already created. Prepare very different goals for organisation and be sure, wars , alliances, ransoms will fall from the sky. Now that would be interesting.

BR,
Chris

I might be simply unfortunate in the infrequent times when I do log in, but I have not seen such a great degree of RP going on as to cause boredom.

Then again, others might have different tolerance levels for it.

I hope things will be different when the campaign kicks off...

Walking around a Varanite town loudly proclaiming to be a pirate?

Ooh, hope I won't miss the trial and execution to follow!

How do you get to level 20? Hunting the guys that spawn in the areas between thalls gate and mill? The highest level dungeons I know about (all of which I can get in at level 11) are the Orcs, Troll cave, and Mage academy. Are there more, higher level dungeons then these I do not know about?

I like the idea of competing factions, assuming that the faction based hostile settings can be maintained with server settings and that this sort of thing is what the staff is interested in for the champaign.

I wasn't certain you could reach 20th level, however, with that being said, even at 20th level there is plenty of things for hardcore RPers to do. If you're at 20th level, or even in the range of 15-20, I would highly suggest slowing down. There is no rush to level 20, there is no prize, there cannot be only one.

You can do several other things as well besides a tournament or RPing, but RPing should be constant, IMO, no matter what level you are. You could start your own storyline, specific for one of your characters, you can start a new character if you wanted to.

Many people, including myself, do not prefer PvP, and thus, you won't see some of us even doing it, unless there is no other choice.

One thing you could do is start a faction to challenge an existing faction. Step on their turf, try to take away business from the Gray Company as an example. Or you could start a faction for a religious cult and go head to head politically with Minuvas and the Lochwarian church (though, for obvious reasons, you might want to tread lightly on that).

No one is stopping you from creating a faction or a player driven storyline. You don't need a DM to RP.

Trust me, you'll be very busy with the campaign once it starts. We have wonderful DM's, who dedicate time out of their schedules for free (which I am very thankful for, for one), and they love to torture us. Its a requirement I think for the job description.

We had many factions in Das1, and I'd love to see more here. I know there are factions, my problem really is I don't know what all ready exists as a faction or just a player run group. Its something you really have to look for sometimes, even on the boards (and it could be there just aren't that many, but I'd love a dedicated board just for postings with descriptions).

As for the complaining, well, a person has a right to disagree if they don't like the way things are going. I certainly do not hesitate to disagree with something or to suggest ways something could be improved. Personally, the lack of board courtesy is beginning to annoy me so much that at times, I won't even reply. My only current complaint is that I don't see enough moderation.

As far as your suggestions go, yes, I'd love to see more RPing within factions, races, professions, etc. Anyone can start a faction, and get approval for it, or just get a bunch of players together and start RPing with a player-driven storyline. It just takes a few people.

There is lots of events, plans, Rp going on you just have to find it. I have been in and seen more PvP in the last couple of weeks than I have seen since I started playing at the begining of February.

If you get bored just pick on BB he loves it because it makes him feel wanted

Oh yes an more importantly than all the above:

Id like to see an actual "good" faction. Unfortunately it would have to be anti-empire and therefor have its own town and NPC faction.

I am not sure if that is do-able though. From what I understand (at least some world makers for other PW have said this) that there is only one 'player' faction. So NPCs can't be friendly to one player but hostile to others. I know the original NWN didn't have this limitation.
