I am planning to grab MotB soon , too and play it through. I hope it doesn't suck.
I am going to wait to return to Das2 until the new content is ready. The old stuff got too repetitive for me, and there were not enough players to do any RPing at the times I was able to log on.
I hope the world builders are going to launch 1.10 fairly soon, though, to bring some new blood into Das2. Follow that up with a large content release and we can start to get serious about the campaign preparations.
Patience, Thracius, will hopefully be rewarded.

made about five new areas. Wich will be added this up and comming weekend or the one following, or so i am under the impression. So lets not get our panties in a bunch, They are doing there "jobs" in creating new maps etc. (i also understand a bank is comming when the rest of the data is added ..^
!So, just try your hardest to stick it out untill then, or dont and upgrade, either way i am sure the new pwc will be here within a week or so.!

Well i'm back.
Been having fun so far.
As some mentioned on IRC, the problem is often that people log in, theirs no one about and nothing to do.
No matter what you say, Roleplaying by yourself is like masturbation compared to sex.
Sadly part of the problem is that in order to have players.. you need... players.
If Das could consistantly maintain say.. 10 players logged in consistantly then people would be more drawn to it, compartivly when theirs only 5 or less people.. well who joins an empty server anyhow.

No reason to be sad, individual players come and go over time. People go for their own reasons. Sometimes they come back, sometimes they don't. If they choose to return they will be welcomed.
Dasaria is what we make of it. It isn't the sole property of any one of us, and no single one of us really makes or breaks it. It may well outlast each of us in the roles we occupy today.
We are telling a story here together. An epic story. It's not really limited to what's in patch 1.06 or 1.10, it's bound only by our collective ideas and energy. Maybe someday there will be a Dasaria3, and on some perfect platform. I don't see how that diminishes anything any of us are doing right now.
It is true that we are about to unveil some new content. This will include the work of the Dasaria2 builder team, as well as significant player-submitted contributions and work of the larger NWN2 community. And Dasaria2 will continue to grow over time; sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly.
Nonetheless, content which is new and novel today will eventually seem old. Many of us already have characters that have reached, or effectively reached, their full potential from a statistics perspective. So then, what are your reasons for continuing to come back here?

I agree, i have told you bunches n crunches of time that i come here for the people. I love the way the people interact here, both IC and OOC, its an amazing server in my eyes no matter what patch it has or what pwc it has. If you go to the forgotten realms, yay many players.....but GOOD LUCK finding any of the wonderful content das already has. Including the great DMS that actually interact with the players and have some-what a relationship with their servers occupants.
I love the story line, and the rp that ingulfs this server/world of dasaria as well, but the players who "come and go" sparratically are not too much a problem.. If you only have 5 or 6 people on and you want to interact, then interact with those 5 or 6 people. I know i do. It doesnt matter if they are your best freinds on the damn server. How else are new players going to become regulars? if they come and see a bunch of people in a circle and no one speaks to them, maybe give them a hint as to what quests to do or something, then they wont come back. And how will you get to know new players or old ones alike, that you dont speak with?
To have a good time in a RPG you must interact with other players. Some people like being mischevious(terrible spelling. too tired to fix/format sorry. Deal with it) and play by themselves, maybe assaisanating a few people along the way, maybe this causes problems for the guards, but there are none that i can see at the moment *smirks* so its all good RP...To be an assaisan you must assaisanate. Hehe. and others like to join up and party, everyone knows i am allways up to "tell" someone ask them there level and class(ooc) and either create a new char to be their level or get a different one who is among the lines of their level (if they are willing to RP/quest with me)to accomodate the needs i have to party with people.
Its all about knowing what you want. And i hardly ever come on and see NO players at all. And when i do, i go AFK untill people come in. or quest alone on single quests that i can complete or figure out ways to complete a quest alone which becomes an achievment i can be proud of and get much more loot for
....
But there is not a single way there will be players on a server if people sign in see no one and leave, If everyone does that the only way would be if people signed in at the same time, which is almost never going to happen. BE PATIENT cant stress this stuff enough guys. there is a solution to everything, although i dont use IRC (not that i havent made valliant attemps) I hear there is always soemone(s) in there just talk to them and see if they are willing to play with ya.....
Make an effort instead of "Bitching and Moanin" PLEASE.

I understand.
Well, I have been playing on this server for some time now and have seen peeps come and go. Some more quickly than others! Still, I play mostly during the day since I work at night for now. During the day hours, 8 am central, I used to see at least 5 peeps or so. Now, usually 1-2 or I am all by myself...which is great for my....umm, ok. So, anywho. I have been on other servers as well and I must say that here on this server people are usually great. They want to join up in party's, they want to RP and not just grind away levels. Where is the checkered flag for lvl. 20? Sure, the content is stale as of now, but, as Wired put it....it is what WE put into it. I have been on here many times when there was a DM online and causing havoc....err....creating a chance for RP...... 
....A horde of Demons outside of the north area of Cear comes to my most recent memory, oh and some little ghost of a child that haunted / stalked one of the PC's here...now that was funny. The other servers I have been on....good luck with that. Anywho, Das, in my opinion, is a great place to RP. I am glad to see some updated material being added to freshen up the air, so...GAME ON!!!
