Maybe some more skill checks could be added to existing dungeons too, so that most skills would benefit the party. Like spellcraft for disabling magic wards to get access to a storage room with fat loot, pick pocketing the key from a nasty mob to avoid fighting it, persuading / intimidating some NPC's to aid you in a boss fight or give you some special anti-boss item that you lose once you leave the dungeon ect. ect. Now the only worthwhile skills in dungeons are the rogue ones, and i think that there should be dungeons that require other skills too. Oh, and ofcourse first aid to heal NPCs for goodie points and maybe a little xp and additional information or something like that.
seconded. I think you should be able to complete all the quests regardless of class, but adding (a) different ways to complete it (b) extra parts of the quest that can only be accessed by certain class, would be cool.

Overall, more skill checks = good thing I think.

Ah, well what I meant by excluding classes, was that in the aforementioned molten lava pit scenario, there's just no way for most people to get across. It doesn't matter if they bring along a rogue with fancy skills who can pole vault it easily, the rest of the party STILL can't get across on their own. Although I guess there could be some kind of lever on the other side, that lowers a bridge, or something like that, which the rogue could pull to let the rest over, once he has got over there himself. Meh, I'm talking myself in circles now.

I like the idea of using other, 'non-rogue' skills such as spellcraft or conversation-based skills in dungeons. Those are skills that are really underused at the moment, and it'd be great to actually put those points I spent in diplomacy/intimidate to good use. A couple of times, Celanduil has used his ridiculously high spellcraft mod during DM events to do something out of the ordinary, which was pretty cool, but it'd be excellent to see that sort of stuff coming up in dungeons too.

I just thought I would throw out some ideas for some items I came up with.

Item:

- Some kind of item that would tell what level other players are on the server. I find it hard to find groups sometimes and this would help alot.

- Something that can be used maybe once per rest period. It would be an item similar to your town stone in NWN! where it teleports you back to lets say the Mistyvale inn

- I realize the potions as they normally are are a bit to powerful to be sold at vendors. However I find even the cure critcal III potions rather useless in combat. Is there someway you could put a cooldown (like sleight of hand) on the potions sold from vendors? I think that would make them much more combat viable.

- This one would be a rather big one and would require some backstory to make it work properly. (I have some ideas made up in my head as well as an area which i have written out on paper, along with some quests. i have a good knowledge of the toolset and could build the area however I would need someone to do the scripting.)

They would be shards that would have a low percent chance to spawn in any chest in Dasaria. These shards could be collected and when given to someone in town would craft either a suite of armour or a weapon for you (Along with payment for the service of course).
The good thing is you can be 3rd level or 20th level and still be able to get an item of worth for your level depending on how many shards and how much gold you spend.
Even better you would get to pick and choose what abilities is applied to your weapon or armour (The better the stat the more shards required, but obviously there would be a cap to this).
You might be able to even name your armour or weapon which would be pretty cool I think. (Feel the wrath of my "Rat on a stick"!)

If you want more potent potions, speak to Mae in her herbal shop. She might tell you something that'll interest you.

*wonders whether nobody else had the idea to drink those potions before a fight instead of waiting till HPs are down to 10%*

As stormknife has basically pointed out, what you are in fact describing is World of Neverwintercraft 2: Mask of the Lich King.

You don't need a hearthstone - sorry, I mean a 'teleport stone', simply because the distances involved in das at the moment aren't anywhere near big enough. Maybe when the game world expands something like that may become necessary, but at the moment, the world is small enough that you can travel to any location pretty quickly on foot.

The potions aren't great, but they are much better than the previous 'normal' behaviour for potions, which was in fact horribly broken. As kikkeli pointed out, you should pay a visit to Mae when you've reached a reasonably high level. She has some stronger potions available in return for doing some work for her. I hear Sara in the Cathedral of Tharon also has a very limited supply of 'instant effect' healing potions, which are restocked every day. And if you have a few points in UMD, there are many people on the server who could make you a wand of cure moderate, or even cure serious wounds, for a reasonable price.

Why do you need 'collectors' who trade quest items for equipment? Let me explain something that is already in the game to you:

There are piles of gold that have a high percent chance to spawn in any chest in Dasaria. This gold can be collected and when given to a local representative of the Order of the Diamond, allows the crafting of either a suit of armour or a weapon for you.
The good thing is you can be 3rd level or 20th level and still be able to get an item of worth for your level depending on how much gold you spend.
Even better you get to pick and choose what abilities are applied to your weapon or armour, what material it is made from, and even what it looks like by using the appearance changer!
You can even name your armour or weapon which is pretty cool I think. (Feel the wrath of my "Rat on a stick < OD >"!)

You might have noticed that I've just slightly rephrased what you said above. You might also note that by using player crafters to get your equipment, you can also upgrade existing items (providing they don't already have too many abilities), and the whole process can be RPed out, which is a hell of a lot more fun than just bringing up a dialog window with an NPC and trading some items in.

My character Celanduil Idrios should be able to see to your needs, and I also hear there's some other guy called 'Amnon Meshullam' who is pretty handy too. There's also an apprentice called Thrar, who might be able to do a few bits of enchanting, if that's what you're after.

There are a number of crafters in the Order of the Diamond who can assist you, depending on your needs. Usually one of us is online every day. Seek us out. If you want to know who the crafters are, please refer to the Order of the Diamond sticky in the Trade Forum or click here.

Good luck.

Honestly I wasnt even thinking about about world of warcraft when I wrote this^^ But I guess now that you point it out there are some similarities.

Regarding the "Hearth Stone": I was not aware how big the world actually was (Im still exploring) So it makes sense. (I guess NWN2 does not allow as big of areas like the huge ones in NWN1)

Regarding potions: That suggestion about Mae will help thanks.

Regarding Items: I have not really looked into the crafting system built into NWN2 (Which I will do now) From what you say it is nothing like the one in NWN: HotU which was pretty much junk.

Thanks for answering these things.

Well I guess since a bunch of my ideas that were used in the NWN1 PW I played on got shot down I just wanted to make sure the most important one didn't get lost.

In NWN1 this was built in, ingame and since myself and the other new people joining the server are not very well aqainted with other players and their alts I find it especially hard to find people to play with who are of appropriate level to my own. I spend most of my time questing alone... I want to roleplay dammnit!

The player menu will show you who's on the server with what character and the chat window will show you just characters, but allow you to send them tells by clicking on their character name.

It makes sense to have some sort of OOC way of detecting potential partymates. Chance/RP encounters are preferable, but if there's only a few people on, you could be waiting a while before a willing party strolls by. I want encourage parties, but only like-level parties.

It would be fairly trivial to write something up that would show character levels and location, in fact DMs already have this; Other PWs provide tools like this, some even publish class/level breakdowns (which I would never support) of logged-in characters to their websites (something like our server status page, but also listing characters).

I think maybe some purists would argue against having something like this due to metagaming concerns, I dunno you guys "tell me." Then again they wouldn't have to use it if they didn't want to, and I could probably provide a "hide" option for those who don't wish to be detected. Could cause lag if people were spamming it too.

I wouldn't mind a "Level-ometer" or at least a level range detector. I don't think it necessarily needs to list where people are though, since it'd be easy enough to ask them and find out.

Based on some of the comments on this thread I would like to say, for the record, that I for one have played World of Warcraft and I don't care what you think that means.
