I'd have to take a look at the options available, but what I liked about the override for the spell effect removal was that I could customize it. If I wanted a certain spell to retain its original appearance I just had to delete the effect out of the folder.
This was all great and wonderful, because I got rid of the 'buffball' problem while keeping some spells how I wanted them.
An example, I like the effect on ghostly visage, I think the ghost NPCs will look much less scary without the added effects.

There is a way to set the item appearance changer into the menu itself. I wouldnt mind seeing this being implemented, seeing as it kicks arse.

Yeah, it comes that way by default. We actually removed it because we wanted it to be an in-character thing.
The Item Appearance changer is definitely in, we'll continue add looks or add other features as it becomes possible.

Well, I'm very disappointed by the decision to disable overrides, myself... that said,
If any chair system is to be implemented, then use Heed's ActionSit. There is really no respectable alternative.
Also the extended color palette on char creation.

Additionally, if we could put back in the UI features of Counterspell and Close Door that'd be rad. I don't have a link to any such downloads but I can tell you which parts of contextmenu.xml to edit to re-enable them if it's a positive.
