Help please, Illegal Char?

I lvl'd up Kez Ryskill during group session and then transition crashed, when I tried to log him back in:

Invalid Char: Illegal Spell removal?

I am fairly sure there was no ilegal spell because I picked one that my Wizzy Mordecai has had for over a year?

Please Fix this so he can return to the glorious land of Das 2.

As far as I know there aren't any illegal spells as long as you don't have SoZ. When Dasaria gathered MotB within, I think it let you have its spells. Seems spellcasters should beware, alot of trouble with their spells lately (My Hyel has had similar issues).

Are you a sorc/bard and did you change spells you have already picked around

Arrggghh, It just did the same on me on a new character I made named Soppi Banger level 1 monk and I leveled him 1 in wizard. I crashed just after leveling in wizard and now it gives me the same message as Kez. His spells are Mage Armor, Shield, Magic Missle, and Summon Creature 1 and that's it he's only level 1 so I can remember what he just got. Hope that helps others. Seems to me that since there are 3 casters that are having same issue maybe it's not the character but a change in server?

Sorcerers and Bards cannot undo spells - I should know since I've been trying to do it since I got the stupid game. It's a bug on the Obsidian end of things that hasn't bothered to be fixed yet. That's the primary reason I can't play Faen. When I level her up, I can't change her spells. There's literally no way to do it since the icons don't light up and let me. Although, I do not have MOTB or SOZ, so perhaps that's an issue. Although, I don't know what you did on level up?

What spell did you pick, do you remember? Maybe it's a bug with that spell being taken on a certain level?

Yes he had swapped spells. Don't do this.

Yes he had swapped spells. Don't do this.

Not sure how he did it .. unless this is an expansion ability. Without MOTB or SOZ, I can't swap spells with Faen. At all.

Ah, ok thanks. I'll have to watch that close I have both expansions installed. I'll start keeping the base game book next to me to choose my spells with. Thanks again

They can, but only every even level.

The bug in question is that doing this renders the character in question "illegal" (illegal means that the character has more spells or ability scores or feats than it should have per D&D rules), so multiplayer servers with the Enforce Legal Characters setting turned on boots them. I haven't looked into this myself, but I'll guess that it simply doesn't completely remove the old, removed spell from the GFF tree.

Ergo any .bic file editor should be able to fix this. Or just temporarily turning the server's Enforce Legal Chars off and dropping the character to a safe level and then releveling it.

All of these characters have been fixed, yes.

The "issue" is that ELC is actually very good at comparing the entering character against what actually occurred at level up (deleveling/swapping invalids), or what is actually legal on the server (expansion invalids).

Is swapping/deleteing spells also an issue for warlocks? Uziel was planning on swapping some of his invocations but now I'm not sure if i should

It shouldn't be as far as I'm aware, no. I've done it before on Das and my character was fine.
