Joining a Temple and Character Build
I'd like my cleric to be able to join a temple but i have a question about character builds:
1) we can only make level 20?
2) is it worth multiclassing my cleric with fighter or divine champion?
3) if i MC, but have a cleric of level 16 with practiced caster feat, I have a cleric of casting level 20?
4) how do I join a temple IG?
5) what perks, if any, are there to joining a temple for my cleric?

Re: Joining a Temple and Character Build
There is an XP cap that effectively caps the server to level 20 for non-ECL races.fazion wrote:1) we can only make level 20?
Completely dependent on what you "see" as your cleric's personality/backstory. There isn't really an numbers need to multiclass with either class unless you really, really want the extra weapon proficiencies, tower shield proficiency and a few bonus feats. As it stands, for melee combat, Clerics are like the most powerful class at it when fully buffed.2) is it worth multiclassing my cleric with fighter or divine champion?
Yes, your Castdf Level will be 20. HOWEVER Caster Level has no effect on spell levels known or spells per day, it only affects the numbers for spells. In other words, a level 16 Cleric and level 4 Fighter with Practiced Spellcaster only has spells of up to 8th level and spells per day of a 16th level cleric; however, for spell duration, number of die used in spells and the bonus the caster receives for punching through spell resistance, he is counted as a 20th level caster3) if i MC, but have a cleric of level 16 with practiced caster feat, I have a cleric of casting level 20?
Depends on which Temple. Some are actual player factions, like the Temple of Lochwar. If you want to join them, you have to contact the faction leader, just like any other player faction. Otherwise, it's a roleplay thing, saying you're from the Temple of Ineania in Ravenwatch. Certain players will treat you different, and DMs might toss you plot related to that, but otherwise, if you want to be part of a temple that has no player-faction, you can just claim you're from it.4) how do I join a temple IG?
None really, outside of roleplaying.5) what perks, if any, are there to joining a temple for my cleric?

Re: Joining a Temple and Character Build
You should perhaps first ask yourself what kind of character/Cleric you want to role-play and when you have decided that turn to the more game-/buildtechy questions. As far as I know all religions offer about the same buildopportunities. Its the RP that sets them apart.
I represent the temple of Lochwar in Thralls gate. If you are serious in creating a faithful Lochwarian the church of Lochwar is always looking for new serva... ehrm... recruits.
On the other build questions I pass, since my build-skill is less then average.
Just send a PM my way if you have any Lochwar related questions.

Re: Joining a Temple and Character Build
I currently chose Tharon as my god. However I can see myself serving either Tharon or Etoth. I'm not quite keen on Lochwar (for the evil) but Etoth is well accepted and is (neutral?) good.
I would join a guild if it meant some sort of importance in-game. If people recognize me, etc.

Cleric is the most powerful class in the game. Multiclassing can only gimp it, with the possible exception of warpriest. Smart multi-classing can give your character some flavor it wouldn't otherwise have and ensure it's nearly, or differently but more-or-less equivalently powered though. Multiclassing won't make your Cleric any more uber than a regular one though.
I'm going to go against the grain here and say multi-classing is better for roleplaying purposes, as it seems harder to me to start Cleric at level one unless your backstory is that you grew up in a cloister of your chosen god or something. My Cleric of Rhuath was pure, and I'd say I'd rather play a Cleric of Teshalia that started life as a Rogue or a Cleric of Nuarari with a little Bard. Also, it makes the game a little more multi-dimensional at low levels where a Cleric lacks navigational skills and hasn't reached high enough levels for those buffs that allow them to walk through brick walls and what not.
It'd be nice to see an active church of Tharon or Etoth. Of course, Tharon would lend himself to a Battlepriest of course and EVERYBODY makes a Battlepriest. A crazy build would be like C16/WP4, C16/P2/WP2 (CHA bonus to saves), BG if evil, but Figher or DC is going to hurt your spellcasting too much, wait for WP to use that tower shield. Also take both Spellcasting Prodigy at level one and Practiced Spellcaster.

Re: Joining a Temple and Character Build
I'm pretty sure we've a temple to Tharon in Cear, right before the dwarves' Broken Anvil Alley. It's close to the Ironbacks Smithy.
I think you can create your own guild to Tharon if you don't fancy joining the Order of the Falcons, which is the official one. You'd have to ask the DMs about it first though.

Yes, there is a temple to Tharon in the Trades and Commons area.

There's some books in the library there that tell more about the Falcons.
