Curious how common an instrument this thing is. So, have you ever seen/heard/played one?

The sound they make is kind of like a twang. I bought one as a kid but I never could make it work right.

One of my old roommates had and could play one of those lol. Like the guy above said - they make that twangy noise you see in hillbilly movies haha

Ive known someone who could play one. To me it's an instrument more about rhythm than tune, altho' I'm no expert.

Only time Ive tried I got some kinda success then whanged my teeth with it. That hurt!

I was always afraid to put it in my mouth. It looks more like a torture device than an instrument.

I used to have one of those. It's not that it actually makes notes, it's more that you make different twangy sounds by changing the shape of your lips around it. It feels wierd to play it.

In Norway the Mouth Harp is pretty common in folk music. I have tried playing on one, but I'm not good. It tickles too much.

Aaa a mouthharp ! I played that all the time with my hippie friends !
It sounds like those old west time of Boings like "Boing boing Bioijong Boing !"

You have to place the straight iron bits against your lips and make a empty space in your mouth.
And then pull the little iron pull thing to make a Boioioing sound

I thought you had to place it between you teeth. No wonder it never worked for me. I suppose if I find another one for less than $5 I might pick it up and try again just to annoy my wife.

being a dental student I think every one should try to learn to play this. Just think of how fast I could pay off my loans.
