I always liked the short confusing story lies, say under 2 hours. to the several season confusing story lines.

As for a fave, I'll have to go old school. Star Blazers!!!!

What should I watch. By watch I mean download. By download I mean pay for it of course. By pay I mean free.
NOOOO! Fight the evil! Resist! Fight to the last!

-Goes back to watching his collection of junk which consists of _0_ anime and includes about 12 movies, a TV series, and a mini-series... TV is overrated and not interactive enough. Tonight's selection? Band of Brothers.-

Akira Special edition makes alot more sense than the orinigal.

Ghost in the shell movies and TV series.

Robotech is good, but is generally for the younger audience.

Samurai 7 is a remake/conversion of an old japanese film.

.Hack is very good for people that are into Role playing games.

Samuari champloo looks good but only caught a few of the episodes.

Cowboy Beebop, is very good, I'm not sorry I bought it, but some people seem to rate it higher than it is, or maybe I expected too much out of it because of all the talk.

For us older folk, the original transformers.

Gasuraki (spelling??) is very good.

GTO is great for a laugh, but it starts out looking like a perverted Jap cartoon, give it a couple of episodes. Its 10 DVD's in the box set so it may take some downloading :) Was also one of the most watched series in Japan.. well if you believe the hype.

Initial D would have to be some of my favs, I have no idea how many seasons this is up to, but if you like jap cars, you love it :)

Good anime

Post by shadeogrey »

Hi,

First time posting,... some time lurking..

A good anime would be Full Metal Alchemist (NOT Panic)
A solid story with good characters. Some paths in the plot not taken, ever, by Disney

There are a few that I have found to be good, just like anything else there is some good things and some really bad stuff, some of what you like is personal taste.

A short list though:

Rurouni Kenshin
Ah My Goddess
Great Teacher Onizuka
Trigun
Condor Hero

I myself was not very much into Anime, but I have loved cartoons since I was a kid, and that is really what most of these are is cartoons for adults, with some having really nice story lines or great characters, which is probally what draws me in the most.

my recommendations include:

Rurouni Kenshin
Samurai 7
Scrapped Princess
Now and Then, Here and There
Grenadier
12 Kingdoms
My HiME
Last Exile
Bleach
Busou Renkin (only available in fansub)
Karin (also only available in fansub... also known as Chibi Vampire for manga)
Hellsing (this is the only anime i actually recommend the english dub for... it is set in England and they use British accents and slang).

Here's a trailer for Wolf's Rain;

the anime I'm currently absorbed in.

Music by Yoko Kanno, the genius behind the Bebop soundtrack.

I'm going to go old school here: Star Blazers.

The animation is rather crude by modern anime standards, but it was one of the absolute coolest story arcs ever to come out of the 70s.

I used to watch it with my father when I'd get home from school. It was a cartoon *shown in America* where people would die, man. Left and right. Dropping like flies. The bad guys weren't !@#$% robots, either.

It would be easier if we'd know what kind of things you're into, Ludovic. Historical? Violence? Cute romances? Mysteries? Slice of life?

There are many types of anime and I'm personally a bit demanding when it comes to it...

I don't like anime, the style, storylines, the culture behind it. It's just not my cup of tea, but I loved Cowboy Bebop, to the point where I have the soundtrack and listen to it on a regular basis.

I'm right up there with Bronc in his "anime hating, non fireball shootin', having normal eye size" tree, and if I can like Cowboy bebop, you'll love it.

Bebop is awesome. Champloo less so, but still worth a watch.

PS: Over NINE THOUSAND!!!!!
Draco - "Allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste."
Lorcann - "BACON!"

Cowboy Bebop
(because if I have to suffer a depressing series, everyone does.. and i still curse Stormknife as he's the one that got me to watch the damn thing)

Samurai Troopers
(known as Ronin Warriors in the US, but there are versions which have the original japanese and subtitles on one side, and on the other side, the same episodes in dubbed english, there are also OVA's as well, one called Gaiden set in NY City, another set in Africa, and the last set in Japan which is considered the very last of the series in which they get new armors, basically a '5 guys in armor saving the world' thing)

Sailor Moon
(cheesy, but funny, there's several different seasons, the original, R, S, SS, and Stars.. I think 5 is the total #, plus 3 movies)

Yu Yu Hakusho

(there are a LOT of episodes, but aside from Samurai Troopers, this is my favorite series, there are 2 movies, the second one is easier to find than the first, the first movie is very short; you have demons and humans fighting together against other demons)

Haunted Junction
(this is a very odd series, however, it is funny in some areas.. deals with ghosts haunting a high school)

Weiss Kruez
(this is called Knight Hunters in the US, basically about a group of assassins.. it is very depressing in spots.. but very good)

-K
Dame Edana Genvaldi - Knight of Argentum Vigilo
Brion Genvaldi - "Obtainer" of Lost Items
Amarenth Dormagic - A Trickster

Famous Last Words: "A lich, huh? No problem; I steal his spellbook."
