I'm curious, is there an underdark on this server? I come from a server with an underdark city and a large portion of players who are devoted to drow RP. In fact, I've been playing a drow there for a long time.

Realistically, drow wouldn't wander around the surface freely and in plain sight, unless they are very stupid or I suppose if they trust the laws will be upheld even with them around (even then, it's unlikely). However, if there's no place for these players to go, then I can understand why they are hanging around the cities.

I won't discuss the PvP issue, because I'm not sure exactly how things work on this server yet. As far as drow being around in general, though, I suggest giving them a small place to go (unless there already is an underdark on this server). I'd make a drow for this server if you did, that's for sure. ;o) I am rather biased, though, but I love drow RP. :D

Anyway, just a little suggestion; could create a nice little conflict between factions, and hopefully create more RP (though unfortunately I suppose it could just end up causing more PvP). ::shrugs::

You can RP an ruthless, conniving, schemeing character without being a dark skinned elf.

There is no Dasarian underdark, because the Underdark is a Forgotten Realms concept. I don't imagine we will be developing any content specific to them for quite some time (if ever) because I for one don't think anyone needs any encouragement to play a Drow. We have more than enough running around already.

A litte lore where the race is concerned might be helpful or the lore already determined posted in a stickied thread where we newer players can find the info might help in role playing when we make contact with them.

If you don't want to use the lore of faerun then it would be reasonable to create your own. I don't believe in the hollow world scenario that allows subterranean races to exist, but the monster races from that setting are useful, so I created a special environmet to explain their existance.

The statement quoted above does nothing to address the question and sounds...

If you don't want to deal with the issue ban the use of the high ecl races, and don't use drow at all. They don't exist. Just because they exist in the OC doesn't mean that they have to in your world.

Believe me when I say that I agree with all of your points. I've just ran out of steam on the subject, that is all. I would rather direct my efforts elsewhere. But I have no issue with someone else trying to get something done. Drow have always been a thorn in Dasaria's side, and we are no closer after however many years, to resolving it because nobody seems to want to deal with it.

Perhaps it would be easiest to just not allow certain races at the character creation screen? I admit that I haven't really started tinkering with the toolset, but it doesn't seem that it could be that hard.

Otherwise, there may be some players that would be willing to do a Drow lore write-up, if one of the DMs could make a simple bullet-point list of the key points.

Since there is no official history or lore on drow, then I'd say a simple solution would be just to ignore them. On FR servers, it would make sense for you to give them a hard time, but on Dasaria, it might not be as appropriate. Until we see anything official on drow and how bastardly they are, it is presumptious to assume they are the same drow from the FR underdark. Not only that, hassling every drow you see is tiring for you as well, especially if the hatred is mis-placed, which on Dasaria it likely is.

Nope, hatred of Drow in Dasaria is far from misplaced. They have a history of being trouble makers and murders which was established in Das 1.

Hug a "G 'Elle". They'll love you for it.

Drow are to be dispised and killed on sight, before they kill you.

If you can't hack the Ingame hate, roll a wood elf.

The G'elle and Nay'lio families both played this aspect very well, taking what popular Drow culture worked, scrapping what didn't and fit it into Dasaria's logic. Of course, these were not 'mechanically' Drow, as they didn't exist as PCs in NwN/Das1. However, even Enemy of the State status didn't diminish thier RP aspect as legendary antagonists. These were just players who thought they would approach the same ol' same ol' in an interesting way. And it worked.

Just role-play, hope for the best, and think big. Forget whatever FR stuff you want to bring into Dasaria. This actually gives the drow-lover and the Drow-reviler far more RP freedom of choice than one might imagine.

Ah didn't know this...partially cause I didn't play on Das I. Haven't been around Das II for that long either, so I was basing my post on the fact that there wasn't a hard copy description for them anywhere on the website. In this case then, I'd say hassle them all you want then, but don't be surprised if they give you an attitude back.

I've got a Deep Gnome and Grey Dwarf...

but both are 'light skinned' (for their race) and act only quasilike their race. Both are abrasive and they don't like elves...

The problem I see with this "Kill the drow before they kill you" is exactly that... that is giving all drow a reason to kill the other races simply for who they are. I can understand racism but not KoSing.

Drow have come to the surface in the past and started killing without a second thought.

A Drow was behind the kidnapping of the Dasarian Queen, now the Imperial Consort (or was it the attempted kidnapping? That predates me).

Families of Drow have gone on killing sprees for the hell of it in the past.

KoS is totally legit for Drow, and to a lesser degree Duergar.
Draco - "Allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste."
Lorcann - "BACON!"

I just think that is a slippery slope.

If they are KoS that means they can KoS everyone else.
