PvP and Drow
Third, about PvP and Drow. I am so SICK and TIRED of Drow characters that I could scream. These feelings date back to NWN 1, so don't necessarily reflect this module in particular, but I don't think I'm alone in this. It's not that I have something against all Drow PCs, but I really can't stand that people create a Drow character and then expect us to act like everything's normal. They expect us to talk to them, to allow them into our parties, and share quests with them as though everything were normal. I'm sorry, but if you create a Drow character, you should expect us to treat you like a Drow. Which brings me to some questions: how can I interact with Drow without breaking the rules of the server? Let me give an example.
If I'm playing a Human, I usually try to stay away from Drow PCs. If I walk into a bar and a Drow is there, I might say something rude like: "Watch your coin purse." or "I was going to get a drink, but not while
he's here." Maybe if it was an inn I'd say something to the effect that I'd feel safer sleeping outside than in an establishment that let Drow in. I think this is a completely appropriate (if cliched) thing to do. There are generally now three responses:
1) Drow player just ignores me. I guess that's fine.
2) Drow player says: "What are you talking about? I'm a nice guy! Let's be friends!" or something along those lines. Yuckk.
3) The Drow player starts arguing back, throwing insults my way. This is also a good response (and probably the most common)! However, this can become very annoying for a simple reason: no-one seems to know when it's appropriate to begin a fight.

I'm EXTREMELY sick and tired of Drow characters that fall in category 3, and then continue to taunt and insult me forever, claiming that "I won't start a fight in a public place like this or else I'll go to jail", or else they'll tell a DM, etc. I would like some clarification about when it is not an evil action to begin a duel. If a Drow insults my mother, my race, my height, my beard, says he has personally killed many other Dwarves, etc., at what point has the gauntlet been thrown down and I can begin fighting? I don't have a chip on my shoulder, and I certainly don't consider myself a griefer, I'd just like some clarification. In fact, I've never engaged in PvP before for fear of the potential consequences (don't want to be labeled a griefer and banned, etc.)
I just think it's ridiculous that many encounters go along these lines:
1) I make a rude comment to Drow. 2) Drow begins making rude comments back. 3) I tell Drow to leave, he's not wanted here, etc. 4) Drow escalates insults, adding threats. 5) I escalate insults/demand apology, etc. 6) Drow character just sits there smugly saying "You can't do anything to me, it's against the rules."
I think that a point comes with verbal insults that a good aligned character can assume that the gauntlet has been thrown down and begin a fight. What does everyone else think? I'd like some feedback on this. I mean, who would most guardsman side with if they didn't actually see the fight start--a Drow or a Human??
P.s. Sorry for splitting this post in two, but it was too long for one post.

Murder all the drow you want. It may land you in Jail, but I think it could be argued its an inherently good act, just not lawful. And as long as you abide by the PVP ruleset murder away. There may be IC repercussions, but I highly encourage murdering all the drow possible.
I'm always right. I'm also a jerk. It's not my fault you can't get over the latter to see the former.

Question #1 - I thought this was not a Faerun mod, and that an official stance on how underdark races fit into the campaign was still under debate?
Question #2 - Dasaria is also a human-centric campaign, no? On a scale of 1 to 5 on the "Racism Meter" (5 being "hated"), how to the other non-human races fare?
e.g.
Humans regard:
-Humans = 0/5 ?
-Moon Elf = 1/5 ?
-Drow Elf = 5/5 ?
-Tiefling = 4/5 ?
Thank you for any guidance in this matter.

If they're invoking the OOC server rules, smack 'em. They can't hide behind those unless you're griefing them.
So if they're outside the walls or there's no witnesses...you should be good to go for drow whackin'.

Lol yeah, I know this one has been done before, but...I wanted some guidance about Dasaria in particular. I also realize that Dasaria isn't Faerun, but it's still D&D, and until I get an official stance on Drow from a DM here, I'm going to assume that they're essentially hated.PrimalSign wrote:Oh gods.. the topic... she rises again!!

A world I played on in the original NWN made you get permission from a DM to create a new character! I thought it worked pretty well. Now I realize that's probably not what the designers of Dasaria want to do, but I've always thought that it might be a good idea if people needed permission to access some of the "special" races, not only Drow. Tiefling, Svirfneblin, Aasimar, etc...

Not to sound snotty but there have been plenty of offical DM responses.
Quick and dirty version they have no place in Dasaria. But since they are, the Player history has been of them as ruthless, treacherous killers.

Trust me.ErictheRed wrote:You don't sound snotty. That's pretty much the feeling I got from poking around the forums and reading some background info, but I must admit that I'm new here and haven't read everything yet.
He is as snotty as they come.
