Naming enchanted items

Post by Artisan Smith »

I enchanted an item today, typing in a new item name, then clicked on "Ok". The item retained the base item name it had.

After some lucky drops I created and enchanted a duplicate item, typing in a new item name, then pressed "Enter". The item retained the base item name it had.

Based on my experience I have two questions...

1. What am I doing wrong?
2. Is there a way to rename items without adding an enchantment or DM intervention?

Following a naming convention for items Artisan crafts is important to roleplaying him. I'm banking the items until I know if they can be renamed. Thanks in advance for any advice, information, or solace.

P.S. I know I've read something about this on a forum here but could not find it even though I spent 20 minutes searching. :-(

There's currently a bug with this, sometime after the server has been running a while. I'm not sure what's causing it. If you have an inkling why, please let us know.

I was able to enchant an item and give it a custom name using the following procedure...

1. Enchant the item
2. When the dialog box for naming your item opens, type in the name you want but do not click on "Ok" or press "Enter"
3. Click on the frame for the dialog box. The blinking place marker in the dialog box should go away
4. Click on "Ok" or press "Enter"

This worked for me. If others are successful with this procedure perhaps it could find its way into a "sticky" post that's easy to find.

I'll give it a few tests myself, see if it works for me. We can hope it does! :D

I just encountered the naming bug again. Looks like naming enchanted items is going to be a hit or miss proposition.

Is it possible that the "quill and ink" item implementation is interfering with naming of enchanted items? The two activities have similar item naming dialog boxes.

The "quill and ink" item naming function appears to work just fine.
