Selene - Blood Ties

Post by Domina »

After Selene feels a bit of reach from Elios one night, she decides that there is a longing in its form and that it is time for her to take some action. Selene begins by going to the library in the Arcanum.

*Selene looks around and sighs lightly. Reading on such a scale was Celestia's thing. Selene found more interest in doing personal research and simply talking to people. Regardless, she went forward and asked one of the students about books on artifacts. The student had no trouble showing her the simple shelf of ONLY several hundred books. Nothing too exciting…just a few hundred. Selene looks up calmly at the shelf and raises a slight brow. She grabs about twenty or so and mutters a prayer for luck.

She arrives at her sister's room and decides to use that as a base of operations while she is a way. Between the subtle dreams and the time seeing Erica and Selchis, she spends time reading. Book after book. This fills her with subtle frustration and a few mutterings of cuss words. Most of the reading was done at night and the pages were long. Several notes taken but nothing too relevant was found.

One night was quiet. The long green gown hangs on Selene as she gazes on a particular book. One on a bit of Necromancy and Phylacteries. How the idea of a soul being trapped in objects can allow them to falter over time if unmaintained. Even some other ways souls can be trapped or released. Even more in particular…a story of a sword that was a vessel for a being of unknown origins. There was not much on the description, but that it left the sword and it was possible to do such things if the sword was made of a crystalline material. The name of it was Adroxus But Such materials are things of darkness she assumed. Then again, the relevance of darkness over using such things for good could be debated.*

"What in the…?"

*The page slowly wavers and the type starts to stagger and lose its weight. Selene throws it on the ground and the type rises into a little storm of letters storm of letters. This clearly confuses Selene and then stands at attention, grabbing her sword as it hums lightly. The little black storm sends a wave of letters flying at Selene. Her arm is slashed and blood hits the wall behind her and she lets out a squeak of pain and throws the blanket at the type storm, only to be shredded. The story begins to throw throw another wave at Sel as she dives over the bed and thaws a small sound blast at the book as it flips end on end and lands.

The storm builds up and sends a shotgun blast of letters at Sel and she ducks behind the bed. The bed and wall near by now filled with holes. She realizes there have been fifteen second increments between each blast and waits for another as the bed jumps from another blast. She charges in and sends a ray of light to burn some of the letters, making a small opening and dives the sword into the book and a sound pulse blows the book apart as the little letters of type fall to the ground and dissolve.*

"…lovely. At least I know what to expect now. A deal of things I will never comprehend. There I go getting myself into trouble. Hum? What is this?

*Picks up one of the pages not destroyed and looks at some of the sentences.* Merlon Advel?

*She spends another day or so looking for hints of this name or anything of relevance to it. She expected more of a hard time finding a LIVING person over a dead one. This was hardly amusing to her. But her deeds came to fruition. It seems that a Dasarian Veteran knew the name from his old days of necromancer hunting. Merlon was a sort of warrior that died in a battle where he charged and was the last to fall. But anyways, this person was buried with honors in Mediam Graveyard. Through her lore, she realized that this place was not TOO far from Morell, but she felt this may require some help.

She decides to visit Morell temple for a bit of luck and inspiration…*
The night is far spent, the day is at hand;
Let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us wear the armor of light.

*After leaving the temple and speaking to Celestia, she goes to find Monika who is supposedly living with her brother a bit south. She looked at the shard left of Elios and sighed lightly. It was pretty interesting how this little shard can hold a soul. Such things are of dark powers, yet this little soul or person or whatever has done his best to keep her sister safe and even kept her tame. Shed supposed this is for the best. She does not even know if it he still alive.

Selene took a little walk for an hour or so and ended up in a calm and comfy village. This is where she figured Monika would be from Cel's not so vivid directions. She runs a hand through her long hair as a breeze rolls by and closes her eyes taking calm breath. She looks around and one of the villagers spot her. Gazes in her eyes and backs away slowly. Selene smiles softly to reassure her but she still flees. She shrugs and keeps looking around the humble village. Wooden houses and plated roof tops revealed a tranquil place.

A young woman approaches the stranger. Long red hair and delicate green eyes revealed an exotic beauty. She stood there, hands behind her back and legs crossed. Her short dress waved lightly in the breeze. The woman catches a look in her eyes and her head arch's slightly. Selene moves a hand to wave and as she does the woman steps forward, a blade from behind comes swinging out. Selene sees her intent to defend and steps aside to dodge as her own blade comes out. the red haired woman hair flows like magic as she throws a kick and selene takes the blunt with the side of her blade. The woman dives forward. Selene parries and steps in her space, not allowing her to gain momentum in swings. The woman smiles a bit and steps back. Selene nods lightly*

???: You look just like her! Even kind of fight like she does!

Sel: Hum?

???: Not many have eyes like you do. You look like Celestia.

Sel: I am her older sister, Selene Domina.

Monika: I'm Monika! It's a pleasure to meet you! Sorry to test you a bit, but you never see many armored people coming here just for a "visit" to a little village. How may I help you Miss Selene?

Sel: I came for you actually. I need a bit of help where I am going, and taking Celestia would only bring trouble over results. A bit ironic that I am asking a Champion of Light for help, but I feel you are one of the betters for this.

Monika: What is it you need? *she resumes her innocent stance from before and listens carefully*

Sel: Do you remember the sword that Celestia carried?

Monika: The one that made a lot of hums a lot?

Sel: The one that was destroyed.

Monika: *Shows deep concern* I remember. She didn't talk for the whole trip and she cried every night on the way back. Poor woman *says with great sympathy*

Sel: I would greatly appreciate it if you would assist me in such a task. It takes me to places that I do not recognize and does concern me.

Monika: I would love to help, Miss Selene! *Looks in Selene's eyes once again and shows curiosity, very clear to Selene, but Sel lets it pass for now. Monika turns swiftly and steps lightly and sweetly to a house near by*
Come along Selene!

*Selene follows her in the house and a man waves lightly to her as he tunes his lute. He winks at Sel and she smiles kindly. Looking around, fumbles and bumping can be heard upstairs. Selene goes up stairs and watches Monika struggle with her armor a bit. Sel giggles softly and moves over to help her. Monika lets her hair set behind her. Her armor is a wonderful White, Silver, and Gold. Strong armor and thigh high plated boots. She pulls up a chain skirt over her and buckles one last strap in front of her healthy form. Monika jogs down stairs, up to her brother and gives him a light hug.*

Monika: Love you brother! Take care of the village while i'm gone, okay? Some one has to! Anyways, i'm off to the usual duty! See you soon!

*Sel and Monika walk out the house and Monika takes one more breath with a wide smile and arms out. Waves to some of the villages as they smile on her with such compassion and love. Selene realized that she defends this place and around. Their red headed light in a dark time. Her level of bright attitude even adds to Sel's calm attitude.*

Monika: So who are you planning exactly? *Speaks as they start on the road to Morell for a boat*

Sel: Going to bring life back to this little broken spirit.

Monika: The sword REALLY has a spirit? That is really odd! How do you plan on doing that though? Isn't that some sort of darker magic?

Sel: It will require us to reach a graveyard near Morell. Some place called Mediam. I think there is something there that would help.

Monika: If you think so. I'm just worried about the idea of looking around a graveyard while Canas' undead have been causing trouble. *waves a quick hand in her hair and looks to Morell*

*They arrive on a dock no the outskirts of Morell and speak to a man there.*

Man: 250 for a ride to Lendose.

Monika: No thank you! We have another destination in mind today. Do you know the old cemetery named Mediam? *bends over ever so slightly as she smiles with her bright eyes*

Man: *smiles as she does and nods* It is out of use and has fallen into disrepair, but It is a day or so away. I will do this for you for --

Monika: For a price? Please mister! My sister was buried so many years ago and i've been meaning to see her, but my work keeps me so busy! *makes her eyes water a bit and lets such a delicate frown* Please mister! Pretty pleeeease? *speaks with such an adorable voice as her red hair hands to the side, further presenting power to the not so subtle manipulation*

Man: …well, just this once I suppose. You are such a beauty, how can I turn down the plea of one such as yourself!

*Selene rolls her eyes but cant help but smile as the boat man accepts them on the boat*

Sel: Quite the show there.

Monika: My brother and I are bards. I've learned a lot of acting from him and to play the lute. A few other instruments too! I was scared that I wouldn't be able to return to my village and to him. We are sent where we are needed though and I would never decline helping when I can. Everyone deserves a chance at enlightenment and peace. I just hope others accept that it is not always easy and can stand for themselves also.

Sel: You young ladies and relites have such passions. It is good to see thinking women compared to the usual martyr or head strong Zealots.

Monika: We don't believe in recklessness and uneducated guessing. We are careful and do our best to keep informed. It's how we got around when things were really bad. Agents of Ineria helped often also. Who does your heart belong to?

Sel: It belongs to my sister. To me, there is no one above family.

Monika: Do you have any friends?

Sel: I have a few.

Monika: I see light in your heart, but you keep it away. If I may ask…why do you hide who you are?

Sel: *Looks onto Monika with her Cerulean gaze* Because if I leave myself as wide open as some people such as my sister, I would be less useful interns of neutrality and I have my own fears of being hurt. It is not because I lack to will to do my best or to help where I may. If I moved about pleading loyalty to the gods, where would that leave me interns of what I really should be focusing on?

Monika: Miss Selene…I won't say that you are doing the wrong things, but maybe opening your heart to the light won't be as bad as you imagine it. Let it touch you and give you a sense of warmth and peace. Your sister and yourself may be different, but you two share the same heart. Have you looked in the mirror? *bends forward a bit in-front of Selene a bit and smiles with her energetic eyes as she holds her hands behind her back* You two have more than a future together. Will you consider it at least? Come see me again after all this and maybe we can talk about it more! Share stories?

Sel: *Can't help but smiles softly at her little plea and energy* I will…consider.

*The boat shakes a bit suddenly*

Sel: Hum?

*The boat rocks violently*

Monika: Eeeaaaaah! What is that?

*Water seems to be creeping up the side of the boat…as if climbing. Both women draw their swords as the sailor keeps steady*

*Water morphs stand in pairs as they splash on. The first charges at Monika as she sends a straight kick to the "face" of the being. Her foot gets stuck and she winces a bit as it almost grins. Monika rolls her eyes and sends her other foot into its "face and does a sit up as she dives the sword into the more solid looking part of the being, sending it to deform and splash down…dropping Monika on the ground*

Mon: Found their weakness! Look for the floating mass of…harder water? *stands up and returns to her stance*

*Selene charges to the pair that remains together and ducks an arm wave that reaches past what she would imagine the reach to be. But then another "arm" extends from its center and knocks Selene back to Monika's position*

Sel: Okay…that was different…*coughs*

Monika: I think conventional predictable attacks won't work too well on them. They can form at other parts of their body it seems from your last push.

*Selene throws a little sound blast at one of the center spots of the morphs, but the "spot" moves to the side as half of the morph is blown away and reforms*

Sel: This is…very different.

Monika: Guess I should put some effort in! *she giggles and her sword explodes with light as she winks to Sel and takes her light stance*[/i]

Sel: *Smiles kindly to Monika and holds a little sphere of light*[/i]

*They both look at the Three Water Morphs and stand side to side as they prepare for the coming trial*

*Both girls are flung against the side of the captain's door*

Monika/Sel: Ooph!!

Monika: Owie! The nerve of these…well I don t think they have too many nerves…

Sel: Lets focus, ya? Let us try a little bit of bait and dive?

Monika: Sounds fun! *Points at one of the water morphs* I want that cutie there!

Sel: Sounds good.

*The other two form up on the one she pointed at*

Monika: Okay! …maybe not.

Sel: Humm…follow my lead. I am going in.

Monika: *blows some of her red hair from her face* Sounds good then!

*Sel charges and the first morph makes an approach, but instead of charge she ducks its swing and charges for the second as it moves. As the first one turns to swing at Selene's back, Monika has approached and stabs it from behind as the blob pops in a splash and disrupts her slightly as her charge for the second morph begins. Sel reaches the second and prepares for a swing, but the third morph throws an arm THROUGH the second morph's body and the size of its area of strike is tripled in size as Sel thrown into Monika with the impact*

Sel: *coughs and shakes her head as she helps her mate up* Remind me…to avoid…*cough* water for a while.

Monika: Got ya sister…

*The final two glow slightly and merge into one much larger form. This now towers above them by nearly seven feet…*

Sel: Um…I hope we are close to the destination about now!

Man: Another hour's worth of sailing! We have good speed!

Monika: I don't think we have an hour…*blows more hair from her face as she stands drenched*

*The giant morph shoots his arm forward and the girls squeak as they dive out of the way and a section of the railing explodes apart. Splinters and fragments spray around and the morph retracts its arm, as most as a taunt.*

Sel/Monika: Wow…

Sel: Okay…any ideas?

Monika: Nope! Run!

*The beast swings again and blows out the captain's shed. The captain looks back and shouts "Oh hells!!" as he tries to regain control of the ship. The girls look at each other for a moment and then the tall sail…*

Sel: Sounds good?

Monika: After you! *runs around to the side and draws its attention*

*Sel cuts into the mast and a short burst from the sword knocks a chunk of the mast out as it starts to fall to the water morph. Monika dives out of the way as the morph is struck directly but its "main mass" of life. Monika sees it shift to the "leg" of the morph and dives at it with a spinning and graceful swing.
The morph shakes and rumbles as the girls look up with great concern. The morph explodes and the crew is thrown into the rubble of the captain's quarters as the captain crashes into the sandbar near by, beaching his damaged boat.*

"s…l..ne! H……wa….up…I….o…."

Sel: H…huh?

S…! Sh…E…I….You a….

Sel: What…? Where? *her vision and hearing clear up*

Monika: Selene! Wake up! Oh! You're awake now! We um…had some problems with the ship. It kind of crashed.

Sel: C…Can it sail later?

Monika: He said it will be about a day or so. Took a massive hit on the starboard side. He knows a guy that can get us back later. But we are at the Graveyard site if that is of any good news. *shrugs lightly with narrowed lips and little brow raise*

Sel: So…I suppose we get out and walk. Lovely.

*They walk for about an hour or so after draining hair, drying off armor, and re-situating themselves after the chaos on the boat. They start their walk to the Graveyard and Monika looks up to Selene*

Monika: So where do you two come from? I mean…to be as you two are... So different.

Sel: We lost our family really early on. Adopted by a traveling warrior and he died as we made our way to the eastern lands. It was just me and Cel for a good while. She has her emotional issues, but she does her deeds for the "greater good" as they say? She is rather a challenge at times, but I love her dearly. Despite her trials and passions, gives so much love to many people. Even when she gets scorned or ridiculed for her thought on how to do some things she pulls through. She does her best to keep promises.
I on the other hand…I am what you see. I do not need to show the whole world love to send the message that I care. I do what I must and I guide those who want to aspire to more than what they are now. I keep my "problems" to myself and I deal with them.

Monika: You seem so much more mellowed out compared to her. Have you been in pain also? You carry yourself so differently.

Sel: I had my share of heart aches. Why do you fight? Were you hurt?

Monika: I was never hurt emotionally. I fight for the simple things in life. The village, my brother, my friends, and just for the people that don't want any part of this war. I don't have any big issues in my life. I'm a village girl. I've dated, fought Canites, played songs for the birds, bake pies, keep in shape, and I just…live. Be marry and sing your own song.

Sel: You are quite the little inspiration.

Monika: Come with me sometime and i'll show you why. But what made you come here?

Sel: I read that there was a sword that could be used to hold souls. I though I'd try and see how that goes.

Monika: Well, i'm here to help. I don't know about all this magic need for it, but hope I can help.

*Selene nods and realizes that as they have been walking it has been growing darker. The sight of the broken lines of metal in disrepair lead up to the once clear title of the location. Vines and twisted metal show that Mother Ki has taken back this land for her own. They step forward and the mist lingers lightly over the horizon. The tall trees make huge coverage and drop slightly colored leaves, showing that fall is near. The gravestones have been damaged. Broken by time and scattered by the marching of reality. Leaving the crushed remains of the graveyard behind.
They pass some of the stones as the whisper of the air through the trees give them a little shiver. The ground beneath them makes a mushy sound as they pass over the grass and the sunset lights the land on fire for a moment as it seems all too short.*

Sel: Lovely…I think this is it.

*They look up at the giant head stone. Plated in onyx and obsidian. The stone remains untouched by the marching of reality as it stands roughly 10feet tall and 15feet wide. A rather impressive sight as the shine of the stone gives them a quick glance at their reflection*

Sel: It is suppose to be around here, no?

Monika: *she walks behind the stone and screams as she falls down a hold*

Sel: Monika!! *she runs over and accidentally falls in with her as she screams*

*They both wake up in a stoned tunnel filled with creeping moss and a damp dripping. Sel helps Monika up and they proceed down the path way with great skepticism. The halls are filled with normal zombies that the two women have little problem dealing with. They are quiet for the most part and speak with movements and looks to each other. They wander for an hour and find an odd alter and a statue. This statue is but the size of a tall man. About 7 feet tall and made completely of stone. It is fractured and broken from the dripping of water from above. The appearance is oddly plain and holds out the large crystal as if almost offering. On the alter infront, it reads: "The blood of one will show me your dedication. Let your hands applaud the hero that was and kneel." and this drove Selene to wince slightly*

Monika: It wants blood? This is not a good idea at all. Blood Magics are known to produce evil results.

*Selene feels a whisper in her thoughts "Show…me…t…way". She recognizes the voice and nods lightly. She steps up to the alter and runs her hand on it. Monika looks around as she grips her sword tightly and steps with caution. Selene signs and cuts her hand as she touches the alter. This alone seems to make the crystal shine lightly. Then she realizes it said "handS" as in more than one. So she cuts the other and sets it on the alter also.

*The alter cracks lightly and the blade on the alter glows from its core. Selene looks up and tries to step back but realizes that her hands can't be removed from the alter…*

Monika comes up to pull Selene off and to no avail. A liquid pours from the sword and drips to the ground. Trickles at first then a pouring till the mass of the sword and more is falling like water to the ground. The liquid forms up to a man and he smiles.*

Sel/Mon: Um…

???: Ladies. You come to disturb my sleep? Perhaps you would come inside and lay with me? Or *eyes glows a bright red* Perhaps you would like to offer a blood donation to your future master?

Sel/Mon: Um….

???: Fantastic. *walks over to Selene and strokes her face*

Monica: Don't touch her!

???: Hum? *aims an arm at her and shoots a liquid pump that sends Monika flying to the wall a few meters away* Now miss…let me have your fine fine blood. Such a rare little thing you are to have wandered down here. You will be a fine treat.

Sel: Why do you live in that sword? Were you not once a hero? *attempts to stall as she pulls a bit*

???: A hero? What are such titles that are produced by the fearful people that the "heroes" have taken an oath to protect? What is a hero that is banished after a time for fear of his power? I have found the alternate solution to the methods of Culnul who would offer eternal life through phylactery. They saw me as a monster. I only wanted to be their eternal guardians! Is this wrong? *regains composure* So you see, I will use this sword here as my eternal rest. Now, let me drink.

Sel: So you are a vampire? *stall stall*

???: I do not know. I do not crave blood, but when I travel between the sword and this realm, I need sustenance. Now, may I?

Sel: Do you ever leave? *struggle struggle*

???: When I must, now enough of this stalling.

*Monika throws a rock at his head and it bounces off as he shows some annoyance*

???: Truly miss? You wish to die today?

*Selene bumps into the "man" and this seems to cause her hands to release as she stands back, blood dripping from her hands*

???: How inconvenient…

*Monika runs over to Selene and shouts* Go for the sword!
*Selene runs for the sword as Monika waves her blade at the odd form. Selene grabs the sword that glows with subtle black light. The form shoots a hydro pump of black liquid, but selene rolls away as it cracks part of the statue*

???: GIVE IT BACK!!! *screams as the eyes turn a piercing purple and throws Monika away like a toy*

*Sel feels something odd as she holds the blade. Then she looks…
Her blood is wrapping around the blade like a vine growing in somewhat of a fast motion. She feels the odd sensation as her eyes widen. Then a whisper…faint and soft. "H..old me…close…" and she looks to the shard of Elios with some confusion, but not before being launched by a pump attack and slammed against the wall. She looks up in a haze to both her hands. One stream of blood wrapping around the sword and another around the shard of Elios. The blood seems to be more far reaching than she would have imagined. The blood started to form tentacles extending from her open wound and that sliver seems to extend others. Soon she is surrounded by blood tentacles as they waves madly around her. She screams out in pain and her body shakes violently. The whips slap the ground and the wall behind her with out any remorse for what is around.*

???: What do you think you are DOING! *Drops Monika's body and slithers with his half fluid form over to Selene.*

Sel: L..leave…her…ALONE…

*One of the whips lash out and slap him as he approaches. He's thrown about though the alter. He recovers and charges again at her, blasting some of the tentacles that lash out at him, but as he approaches some of the tentacles intertwine with the offensive he presents as a tug of war - of sorts. Then one of Sel's lash out and pierce the man's form and he looks up in agony as he starts to let out a single tentacle at Selene. It stops halfway and he melts over and lays a puddle as the black in the sword's crystalline structure vanishes to a soft clear hue.*

Monika: *gets up slowly as her hair lays around her and her sword off from her.* I…is it over? *Looks up and her green eyes widen sharply as she sees the tentacles slashing about. Sel holds the sword in one hand and the shard in the other* Selene!!! Selene!!! What is happening?! By the gods!

*The shard of Elios glows lightly and Selene screams as the gold rings around her pupils glow. She straightens from on her knees as a light rolls through her arm from the shard to the sword, slowly. The sword takes a little light tint of the slightly sky blue crystal.
The tentacles start to slowly retract into Sel's hands, and as they do Selene falls over unconscious…*

*Selene wakes up and sees a bright white ball in her sights. The moon up at its peak shows a calm night. She looks around slow and sees the graveyard*

Monika: Don't move much!

Sel: W…where…?

Monika: Right outside the crypt. Just rest. Nothing here is trouble.

Sel: I…Thank you…*she closes her eyes and lets her fatigue take her for the night as her body aches*

*Sel and Monika go together after she wakes and they arrive at the boat man. He manages to fix up the boat enough to take the rivers natural flow back. The boat ride is quiet and Monika makes peeks as Selene. Sel smiles back to her tiredly and Monika puts a hand on Selene's shoulder as they sail slowly back. Over time they reach the coast of Morell and they hop off and start their way to Cear.*

Sel: What will you do now, Monika?

Monika: Maybe i'll stay in Cear for awhile! I rarely come here and it could be fun! So maybe I will see you and the others soon enough. I need to find the baths, but lets meet up some time!

Sel: Of course! Be well and do take care. Thank you again for your assistance.

*They smile kindly and part ways. Selene makes her way to Two Bridges inn and goes up to the bedrooms. She looks on the sky blue-ish tinted sword and listens to the light humming. She changes into her slender hanging blue gown. The bed creeks a bit with her sitting and gazes over into the mirror. She looks into the Cerulean eyed woman and tilts her head slightly. She lays back in the bed and looks over to the sword. She sighs softly and holds arms crossed over her chest.*

"Was I used as a conduit for the transfer? Maybe something about me made it possible for Elios to ride through me and into the empty sword. It is so odd and I feel so sore. I hardly remember how it all ended. It was all so odd. But if anything, maybe I did something that was beneficial in the end."

"Soon…you can see her again."

*Selene closes her eyes and holds the nearest pillow between her legs and grasp. Almost instantly falls asleep as she lingers in pain and aches*

Let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us wear the armor of light.
