A brief passage from a handwritten missive:
I believe the threat unknown, incomprehensible to the modern mind. Scripture would dictate the existence of fifteen gods and no more. However, other cultures, older scriptures, would describe other deities that do not align. The old Dasarian gods, Enlil and Erra, gods of Air and Fertility respectively, have since passed into obscurity. Perhaps, they never existed. But then, strong is the knowledge of every Cuhanan the seductress Baalat, temptress who married her way to god-hood. Yet still, the modern Varanite argues, this is but one culture's (wrong) interpretation of the gods. Perhaps so. But he is forgetting one very poignant and very real threat to our establishment: The march of Canas. Here is what we know was once a man, now a monstrosity bent on godhood. So it is not so incomprehensible that Ascent, if not possible, has the potential to do great harm. And frighteningly, it folows logically that, if gods can be made, they can be destroyed and forgotten.
The magic that gave rise to the Hole originated from scriptures, rites of a mad culture not unlike the Canites, who, after their deaths and passage into obscurity, lay dormant until rediscovered by the modern Varanite. The madness that took them, an incomprehensible weapon they declared designed to allow them to Ascend, but would also destroy all things dietical (and it follows logically that we are an extension of dietical will). The very notion of such a weapon would cause the modern Varanite to balk. Yet, such a weapon is said to have once existed--and it underlies the very foundation of our scripture. Was it not Tharon's Arrow to slay Ch'taia? Could such a weapon once exist, could it not, again, exist?
You cannot deny what your own eyes witnessed.
We must act.

[[Please note, this missive wasn't sent in-character to anyone. It's just a small passage I wanted to share to showoff Dasarian Lore in something I wrote!]]
