Where to take a fighter?
Okay, well I've ended up about reaching the point where my class options begin travelling in different ways. I've a few questions about certain rules and how they work compared to stock 3.5 rules.
Firstly, in 3.5 you can only cast spells if your spellcasting attribute is 10 + the spell level or greater. So for a level 2 spell you need 12, for a level 9 you'd need 19. Does this hold true in NWN2?
Secondly, if the above does work is it worth knowing level 2 spells at level 20? In 3.5 there's always something handy you can do but PnP and NWN2 are a long distance apart.
Third, and also the question on the poll, would it be more useful to go 10 Fighter/10 Weapon Master, 6 Fighter/10 Weapon Master/4 Cleric, 6 Fighter/10 Weapon Master/4 Rogue, 6 Fighter/10 Weapon Master/4 Bard. I've 10 wisdom, 12 charisma (for RP purposes), and a very high dex (which does admittedly hurt when scythes are your main weapon but I've a decent BAB to help fix that lack). The character is supposed to be charismatic but also a decently skilled fighter and the possibility of being on the underside of the law is definately available as not all his dealings are 'clean'.

Do you prefer a deep red or a more subtle shade of pink ?Jonny wrote:I like rouge levels for the extra skills. UMD, tumble, or spot/listen are always a good asset.
Tomar - WarPriest of Girru.
Deanna - Mage of crafting
Sera - Want help? seek elsewhere
Merido Oaken - Cry havoc and let loose the Hogs of War!

Out of those builds, if I got to choose my own attributes, i'd go with 10 fighter / 10 weapon master. I'd almost prefer just to go pure fighter, because Weapon Master has too many prereqs for my liking. However your attributes are pretty horrid for your standard fighter, so I think the most effective way to go would be the 6 Fighter/ 10 Weapon Master / 4 rogue. Then focus on light armour and dual-wielding since you're dex based. But if you really want a scythe, that'd work too, although not having a high STR score will hurt ya. Don't bother with only taking 4 levels of Bards. They're horrible multi-classers in my opinion. If you play a Bard play pure, I always say.

Bard I was thinking for the various interaction skills and RPishness. You are correct though, the idea is to DW scythes and get whatever that 3 offhand attack feat is. Essentially the point is to crit something and nothing more. I'm one of the sorts that attempts his hardest not to powergame because I DO like RP... I'm just also a number cruncher. Essentially I'm trying to make a strong RP character that CAN do some damage, even if that damage is handed out at random. I was already resigned to wearing light armor due to dex score.

I mean if you want to power game, lets power game. All these builds are kinda meh because of the 3 wasted levels in WM.Zandes wrote:i don't like any of those, the weaponmaster is a 7 level class...it's a waste to go all the way up to 10 :p
Try this, max STR on creation (or one less then max), 13 dex (12 is max dex bonus in platemail), 12 fighter, 7 WM, 1 Barb. (put all points into STR)
Forget about the dual scythes as thats going to KILL your attack bonus. Instead go single scythe or Great axe.
Now thats a decent build, Mine is better, but mine is more secret.
If your dead set on dual wielding scythes then do what ever you want just dont go 10 WM. Dual wielding with monkey grip is just a terrible terrible terrible idea for a WM in almost every single case I can think of. (Other then for RP reasons which is valid)
If you want to be a good dual-wielding WM dual wield Kurkis and be a finesse fighter.

I'd take human, your going to find you'll need it if you want luck of heros. The WM prestige class is costly on feats. With my build I had to take human and I still couldn't afford luck of heros.UltimaBoB wrote:Ideally probably Fighter 12 for greater weapon spec, wm 7, cleric 1 (evasion and toughness + heal skill)
Use scimitar. Get able learner. Get luck of heroes. Lots of save feats.
Dwarf is probably best race. But that is just pure power mind you.
Edit: and yes 1 level of cleric is a decent alternative to 1 lvl of barb, just have to ask if you'd rather have evasion and toughness or 10% extra move speed (which is pretty useless in NWN2) and 1 time per day barbarian rage (which is not so useless).
Or if you wanted more spell casting you could always scale back on the fighter levels and take more cleric. Just make sure you can make your feat requirements for WM and that will ofcourse mean sacrificing another stat to increase your wisdom. (prob STR or CON)

The scythes are sorta the chosen weapons for sentimental reasons (read: my first decent PnP campaign had us chased by a bunch of scythe wielding maniacs which managed to utterly murder our fighter types). I'm not looking to power game although I must admit I _WAS_ curious why WM seemed to stop at 7. I'd simply assumed that they must have forgot something in the manual since the typical way a prestige class works is good benefits at level 1, decent benefits at 5/6, GREAT benefit at 10. As an example in my PnP campaign for instance I'm a Gnome Sorceror/Elemental Savant. At level 10 in Elemental Savant the Gnome becomes an elemental (which means I've a gnome looking air elemental with 100 feet movement, perfect manuverability, and which can still cast at either 17th or 18th caster level). Anyways... that means I could take it somewhere like 6 fighter, 7 WM, 7 cleric (for level 4 spells) or rogue... or even a 6 fighter, 7 WM, 4 rogue (for Evasion and Uncanny Dodge), 3 cleric (for level two spells).
