Suggestion - Bounty Quest System

Post by demon022184 »

On a NWN1 svr I played on awhile ago they had a very cool Bounty quest system.

The Bounty quest giver [Usually someone like Captain of Guard, Guildmaster's, etc] would have like three to four random quests for various amounts of gold/difficulty for your level to dispatch certain troublesome monster in the land.. IE.. easy, moderate, hard and & very hard.

The real beauty of this system was the mobs you had to kill would only spawn for the person with the quest when they got to the spawn area because they would have a parchment with job details on it [bounty for monster] that spawned the specific boss encounter.

So you would fight your way thru a dungeon or a exterior map to find say an Ogre Magi, Ogre Champion, Fire Giant Annihilator, Ice Giant Lord, Bigbad Bandit,.. etc.. and these mob's would have usually 3-8 minions.

They also implemented this same system except for rogues in the rogue guild. They would either have to assasinate said person, steal a specific item, or assist in some other subtle way.

The quest giver's would usually allow you to complete 3-4 quests before he would advise you that he's out and to check back late [IE - next reset or could even be a set time in game] before they had more for you to do.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think having one or two bounty quest giver's in game would not only be logical in game and would greatly reduce time in creating some quest content.

Also you can make specific content for certain faction's in game very easily with this. I know this would be alot of coding to implement but I think it'd save time especially if you decide to put in alot of specific faction content.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The bare bones coding would allow you to put this on multiple NPC's then put in Quests specific for the NPC's.

This is just a thought for the world builders to consider.

[Edit] Hmm was my post moved here? Could of swore I put this in a different forum.
Today the blood of battle
Upon my weapons will never dry
Many I'll send into the ground
Laughing as they die
