Admantium Armor
I heard this stuff has DR on it. Anyone know how much? What about shields? If they do, does it stack with armor DR?
Finally, how much does it cost to make full-plate + shield?

It's adamantine. Pet peeve, sorry...this is not the stuff they put on Wolverine's bones.
DR from Adamantine armor:
Light armor gives you DR 1/- (meaning it prevents 1 damage from all physical attacks, but not energy based ones)
Medium gives you DR 2/-
Heavy gives you DR 3/-.
I would assume shields follow something similar (light 1, heavy 2, tower 3), but that's a complete guess. I don't know if it stacks with armor DR.
This does stack with DR granted from being a warlock. I would assume Barbarian or Dwarven Defender DR stacks as well, but don't quote me until you test i.

Best is relative. For a weapon, I'll always take adamantine over other materials; the things that have DR X/adamantine are generally a hell of a lot more dangerous and have a much larger number to the left of the slash than things that have DR against other materials. For armor I'll take magic anything over adamantine, just due to the weight (unless I'm a fighter with encumbrance to spare).TheSilverHammer wrote:Is adamantine the best metal? Is there different characteristics based on the metal? IE: Alchemical silver gives you 3dr vs Magic, Darksteel is 3dr vs negative...
I don't see why silver would give DR against anything...it's main purpose in PnP is to hurt lycanthropes and some kinds of outsiders.
Darksteel gives you resistance to acid I think, and +2 electrical damage on hit.
Finally, do they look significantly different?

There are many crafters in the Order of the Diamond who can craft using Adamantine. At the very least, you can contact Friam Fole, Mr. "X" (a.k.a. Nileferous) and Amnon Meshullam. There may be a couple of others as well. Perhaps you should add a WTB post to this forum.

My crafter, Celanduil Idrios, is also capable of crafting adamantine equipment. You'll have to provide the ingots yourself though, as they are very rare, and my own supply is for my personal use only. I've seen people paying 10k each for them, so you may need to save up a bit to afford them!
Personally, I would take an enchanted weapon or suit of armour over adamantine any day, at least until somebody figures out how to enchant the stuff

I agree with Thracius for the most part, but Adamantium weapons are pretty essential in most of the higher-end content as it is the best way to attack NPCs using Stoneskin buff.

Hmm, well you're probably right. Adamantine does cut through stoneskin like a knife through butter, but apart from some of the mages in the tower, I can't think what else uses it (unless I'm going mad or something.... which is perfectly likelyBobzim wrote:I agree with Thracius for the most part, but Adamantium weapons are pretty essential in most of the higher-end content as it is the best way to attack NPCs using Stoneskin buff.
Also, I forget to mention before. If you're a cleric capable of casting greater magic weapon and greater magic vestment, then it's adamantine all the way, as you can provide the enchantment bonus with your own (long-lasting) spells!
