What levels are the Gods?
This is something I was thinking about earlier. I believe in Forgotten Realms settings the Gods are typically in the 40's (i think?). Would the Gods of Dasaria be similar?

Re: What levels are the Gods?
Unlike the Forgotten Realms, the gods in Dasaria are much more "god-like." Keep in mind, that in the Forgotten Realms there's a ridiculous number of deities, even in the rather "bare bones" list we get in NWN2 it's something like 40+ gods listed. Compare that to Dasaria, where you have 15 living gods (16 total, but Tiamat's dead). It bears to reason that the gods of Dasaria would be much more powerful.

Re: What levels are the Gods?
In the current incarnation of Dasaria, neither "new men" nor "lesser races" can advance beyond level 20.
Certain NPC or historical "ancients" : Siril FirstKing, Canas of Exodon, Pelaithil Phazzan, Jyhanna, Bahram, are relics, living or dead, of an earlier epoch, and are what you might describe as "demi-gods," either having been subject to some sort of supernatural apotheosis associated with divinities, or having been of divine origin to begin with. It's safe to say that such figures, if they exist within the game, would be at least level 20 but no higher than what could be supported OOCly by MOTB, which would be 30.
The Gods exist outside this system entirely, but that is not to say they are invulnerable to the acts of mortals.

So in summary, what Wyvern said. The answer is 42.

One of the key themes of the Campaign, for instance, is the subject of the Risen Canas, who is rumored to exercise god-like powers, and is worshiped as a God by his slaves/minions/followers, and the uncomfortable position into which this forces the traditional Varanite foundation myth, in which Lochwar's 'chosen son' Canas sails across the Black Sea and creates and Empire in Lochwar's name. While the gods are immortal, they are not all powerful. They squabble amongst themselves, act with human motive and emotion, suffer human vices, and are constantly moving their little pawns against each others' will. The will of some gods is occasionally opposed by upstart PCs as well. The Gods do not generally take human form, nor make direct appearances in-game, tending to act indirectly, though stranger things have happened.
So in summary, what Wyvern said. The answer is 42.

To put it another way, they had to kill a LOT of wolves and boars to get where they are today...
It's just a game...

Re: What levels are the Gods?
Are the gods a set # in the game mechanics? Like for example, let's say a new cult opened up. Hhhhmmm...maybe the god's name was oh I don't know, Cythis( HA!). Could that be something added? I know there are other gods of the Cuhanne.

So did Rhode. Where you there with him Redleafe? I remember it being a very difficult fight but with the the help from Coloth's avatar we did succeed.Redleafe wrote:ChikenKannon wrote:Sweet. Other than these two there have been a few other representatives of the gods that have shown themselves but never the gods themselves.

Re: What levels are the Gods?
@Cythis
Generally put, new gods aren't allowed to be added into game lore. The Cuhannan pantheon had to go through an approval process with the DMs before it was accepted, and it was designed specifically to parallel certain things in the Dasarian/Varanite pantheon (as in, more than a couple are basically "same god, slightly different angle" types). You can always create a character who worships a god not in the pantheon, but the general IC reaction will either think the poor person deluded to looking to get them arrested to heresy. It's also unlikely any gods created like that would be put into the game.
As far as I can tell, the pantheons are effectively continental. The deities in the Varanite pantheon make up the pantheons of pretty much all the peoples on the continent we're in, though each culture might have a slightly different take on the relationships between the gods (IE Dasarians considered Marduk King, not Druaga; the Rianians emphasize Ki more than the others gods; dwarves generally hold dearer to Brithna). There might be a few gods different between them (For instance, Dasarian knew of Enlil and Erra, while they're unknown in the Varanite pantheon), but it's still generally the same cast.

Re: What levels are the Gods?
To clarify, the Cuhannan Pantheon, while it has been reviewed and posted by the team, is really unofficial/player lore. The Pantheon the Team concerns itself with is the official Pantheon.
From the Varanite point of view, there is only one Pantheon, and everyone else believing anything else is a heretic. The Cuhannans have a trade agreement with the Emperor in which he has given special dispensation to practice their religion. However, they're still heretics and would otherwise be subject to the Imperial Inquisition.
Though I think it's safe to say that just like the Assyrian/Babylonian/Mesopotamian Pantheons, Ancient Greek/Roman Pantheons, there's a lot of "mashups" between deities, different aspects of their divinity recognized and worshiped in different ways, etc. The points of parallelism and disconnect between the Dasarian and Varanite Pantheons, and those put forward by players relative to Cuhanna, are right there on the page.
But to come back to Cythis' question, "the gods are real." You can't become a God by attracting followers, and a God's powers don't attenuate if people stop worshiping them, it's not that kind of system. Though Rel is not recognized by the Empire, Rel is real. This is something the Varanites who have witnessed his Paladins and Clerics fight against the Canites have had to, or are still struggling to come to grips with.
