Invisible characters grabbing chests
Invisible characters grabbing chests
rant on/
again today I saw a wizard running around the bugbear cave, just emptying out all the chests, come back to town sell then log off.. sic..
just makes me angry.. i'd recommend for a total disable of invisibility spells
rant off/
will this be fixed sometime soon'ish?

We will be putting measures in asap to address this mechanically through scripting and improved encounters.
BUT!
You are all empowered by the server rules. It is a FULL PvP server. You can kill these ninja looters within the rules. I certainly would in your position. And, ask them to leave the area for one hour (real time, as per server rules). If they breach this, they are breaking the PvP code of conduct and can be dealt with by one of the members of staff.

How bout just making the invisivility line of spells large boosts to the hide and move silently skills?
That way there is a chance to be spotted
Just a thought.

I'm always right. I'm also a jerk. It's not my fault you can't get over the latter to see the former.

That is one option (strip invis, not disable) being discussed and is entirely valid, given the tactics being employed by certain elements within our community.Peregrinus wrote:I trust you're noting going to disable invis spells... that will hurt mages and their parties a lot in the end.

If this ends up happening, I think I will personally have to hunt down and... remove... said offenders. Not in game, mind you, not in game...Wyvern wrote:That is one option being discussed and is entirely valid, given the tactics being employed by certain elements within our community.Peregrinus wrote:I trust you're noting going to disable invis spells... that will hurt mages and their parties a lot in the end.

I wonder if a very brief invisibility effect could be established with the hide and move silently bonuses being on a much longer duration. So you could get the instant survivability and the chance to go into stealth mode.Peregrinus wrote:If you did that then you'd also have to make the spells grant the Hide in Plain sight ability too, part of the point of invis is to be able to get out of a bad situation, not just to sneak into one.

bronc, that may be a good compromise if nothing else.
Though it'll make dropping an invis on the cleric to make sure they live pointless with their ACP.
The big advantage to me of Invis is not the initial attack from it, its the miss chance it grants.
Are the Displacement spells in NWN2?
If not, why not make Invis and Greater Invis into more like displacement, with Invis granting a 20% concealment, and Greater Invis granting something like a 50% concealment. That makes it so it still allows some degree of survivability, while making it so people can't ninja loot with it.

I'd like to see the community address this issue and help solve it in the game.
Not every solution wholly needs to come from us.
We wont build for the abuser. We build for the normal player to have a good time. Help us with the responsibility of keeping it a good place to play. It has to work both ways and problems like this have to be approached from community/dm partner perspective.
I'd like to be informed of the people who are doing this so I can keep an eye on them as well, so please PM names of individuals. The problem is when it interferes with people who are progressing normally through content.

I dont know the scripting behind this next idea and im sure the dms have thought of something similar...
but would it be possible for invisibility to drop if you were to interact with anything? So maybe you get to the chest and crack it open but you will be in a world of hurt if you do so.
